  • My first one...

I decided that it was finally time to introduce myself, and make some friends here on ADBB. So, here's a little run-down of my journey on Atkins so far.. I started this woe on March 1, 2006. It started out that I was only going to do this for lente, and I figured that I'd be back gorging on carbs as soon as Easter came. But, soon I realized that eating this new way and excercising actually made me feel great. And even better, I was losing the weight that I never thought I'd lose. During my 2-week induction I lost somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds. I went from 235 down to 215 in such a short amount of time. I stuck with Atkins until the beginning of November when things got a little hairy in my life. At 175 pounds and more than halfway to goal, I really started screwing things up. My family's financial situation turned a little scary, and instead of eating the luscious veggies and delicious meats and such that I had been eating, we couldn't really afford much more than to eat Top Ramen and boxed rices and noodles. I know many of you don't accept excuses like these, and I myself didn't either until my situation became what it did. Now, we're back on the financial bandwagon and things are starting to look up again. It's been 2 months since I've been on this wol, and I'm ready to get back into it. I'm lucky to say that I haven't gained any weight back since I've stopped this woe, but I know that if I don't take care of things quickly, it's only a matter of time that those 70 pounds that I worked so hard at losing will come piling back on.
So, I'm restarting, for my second time at 168 pounds. Goal will be somewhere around 130.. unless I feel comfortable at a different weight, be it more or less.
I look forward to finally talking to you all! I need some support and a little motivation!

MissLiis--glad that you're back to Atkins.

You said some great things about how this WOL makes you feel great, and you can lose weight by eating yummy stuff. Sorry to hear about the financial troubles, but I'm glad things are going better for you and you can resume Atkins.

It sounds like you have a lot of knowledge and will be speeding along the weight loss trail in no time. Have you been to Linda's low carb site? She has some great recipes in case you want to jazz up an old favorite or try something new...

Much success, and I'm looking forward to reading more posts!

Hi! Welcome back! Sounds like you have done an amazing job and will again continue to do so. If you need motivation for exercise, how about checking out an exercise challenge? There are a few different ones and they work for me!

                Re: My first one...

Thanks, everyone, for your replies! I haven't gone grocery shopping yet, so I won't officially be able to start until Sunday probably. But, boy am I ready! Until I get some good food in the house, I'm going to start cutting down on the carbs that I do have. I'm just hoping induction flu isn't too bad this time around.

Stella- I'll have to check out what kind of exercise challenges are up now I'm definitely not lacking in exercise at all. I'm a bingo attendant at a casino, and I'm running around for 10 to 12 hours at a time. The only time we get to sit is during our lunch and breaks. I also try to walk a mile a day with my 2-year-old, but now that the weather is kind of yucky, I want to start thinking of some more things to do to get some exercise time in. So, thanks for the suggestion and I'll be sure to see what's going on on the board!

                  Re: My first one...

Welcome MissLiis and congratulations on your successes so far!
You're so right not to be complacent about not gaining in spite of putting Atkins on pause for a while... it really is just a matter of time before the weight comes back if you go back to eating the way you were before.
Seems like you've got the right mindset so I'm sure you'll soon be posting your latest losses!
                  Happy losing!
