  • Hi There!

    Hi there

My name is Jenna and I have been watching this site for about a week. In 2004 I was living in Spain and I weighed 160 pounds and I am 5ft4. I had heard about atkins so decided to give it a try, within the space of 8 months I had slimmed down to 128 pounds and felt amazing. May 2005 I moved back to England and developed a taste for all my old treats, Sunday Roast dinners, Fish and Chips and regular Pub lunches.

So 27/12/06 I jumped back on the scales to find I was 146 pounds and not happy about it, so I have been back on Atkins ever since. today I weigh 141 so it's definitely working however I have been 141 for 4 days now so I am losing patience.

If I am honest this hasn't been the 'cleanest' of inductions as I have been full of cold so had some throat sweets and Laid off the gym. Also treating myself to one small peice of chocolate. Would that really halt my losing? Anyway nice to meet you all!

    Re: Hi There!

Hello and welcome back to Atkins!
Congrats on your losses so far!
If you eat right, drink your water and exercise you will lose the weight. Don't stress about the scale not moving for a while... this can happen. You might be losing inches. Have you measured? Often you can drop clothes sizes and maintain the same weight, particularly if your body is morphing from fat to muscle which weighs heavier.
Try to keep to keep off illegal treats... sooner or later the cravings will subside as you lose your sweet tooth.
We're all rooting for you and hoping you get to goal right quickly!

      Hi Jenna!

Well done on getting back to Atkins. I agree with Sally - even a small piece of chocolate can be a disaster for the induction phase. As the book says (DANDR 2002) the 14 days are to break with old habits and to stabilize blood sugar. I thought I would NEVER be able to not have chocolate each day but I toughed out the first week or so and the cravings went away - they will pack their bags eventually.

      Good luck,

        Thanks Baarb and sally,

I need to have a serious word with myself I think. I wish there was an Atkins Holiday camp where you could go for a two week break and be no-where near yummy treats, they are around for Alcoholics so why not Carboholics??? lol

          Jenna,

I've not done it myself, but people seem to have great results when they do the Aktins Bootcamp on this site - perhaps look through the thread and consider signing up?

Otherwise just post here, people always willing to reason with you!

Welcome to ADBB! AS the others have said, put down that chocolate! There are sugar free throat lozenges that would be much better as well, but anyway...

Welcome to the board and if you need anything, we're all here to help!

Hi Jenna! Perhaps you had a touch of induction flu! I agree with everyone else, lay off the chocolates. A clean induction is the way to go. it sounds like you know how to eat this way, however I would recommeng checking out the induction forum so you can chat with others currently doing induction! Good luck to you, you can do it again.
