  • Starting again... from Canada

I am on my third day of induction...The first couple of days were difficult. I weigh 227 lbs and once got down to 190 from 250 on the Atkins. I am a mom to three children and a hubby. I am pretty much on my own as I am the only "chubby" one in my family. I have struggled with my weight all my life and it consumes my days. I really wish that I had found this site the last time. All of your stories are so inspirational. I am going to walk 30 minutes a day NO EXCUSSES! and so far so good. (laughing at myself as it has only been 3

days)I am going to get brave and soon post pics of myself ...I guess just for accountability. Well...thats me in nutshell.

    Hey there Tara,

Well done on your previous loss - you know it works. This site is totally great for providing a whole load of support, so it doesn't matter if you are the only non-skinny in the family.

To provide some accountability for your 30 mins a day walking you could sign into one of the exercise challenges.

    See you around the board,

    Baarb

Tara, welcome and I know what you mean about the life long problem. I was overweight as a child and I struggle everyday with my weight. I watch my daughter who is not overweight, but when she was around 10 the doctor said to watch her. I don't want her having the same problem I do. There is a second time around club on this forum. Check it out. I haven't been there in a while, but they are a great bunch......Dawn

                      Thanks Christy

I finally made it over those first few days and they are the hardest for me. Now to stay on track for the next 11. I hope your first few days on Atkins went/going well for you too.

Hi, Taradar! Welcome to ADBB. I have been here for 2.5 months and like you I wish I had found this wonderful place sooner. I have lost weight before on Atkins and know it works. But I have never had support while doing it. This time I have lost around 13 pounds. I got a little off track during the holidays..not much but a little...the difference between other times I have dieted and now is that once I fell off, I never got back on...just couldn't forgive myself. This time, though, I had the good words of people to cheer me back on. So, I am back on now and feel very strong, thanks to all the cheerleaders I have met here.

The things I have found crucial to success: planning my meals, water and lots of it, exercise ( I do three workout days a week that include one hour of jumping on my mini tramp, stair master, light resistance training with small weights and when the weather permits walking outside - I live in Denver and haven't been able to do that recently due to all the snow) and getting on this BB as often as possible. I have also varied my diet with recipes that I have found here and I have discovered flax. I love it. There are some flax muffins that I won't do without. And there is a mock danish recipe that I enjoy for breakfast a couple times a week. Well, good luck and glad to have you on the journey!

                              Thanks for your post emom...

I too have fallen off the wagon many times before and have always given up on myself or I have used it as an excuss to quit...Not this time though! I am Thankfull for all of the support I have received so far and I know it will make a huge difference.

A danish sounds really good right now...I will give that a try for sure!

                              Thanks again,
