    Hi All! My name is Tamlyn and today is Day 5 of Induction for me. I've never done Atkins before although my dad has had much success with it. What has really struck me about my journey thus far is the excitement I have for it. I've been finding recipes and actually COOKING . I've been at 20 carbs every day and haven't really even had the urge to cheat, which is surprising but great!
    I definitely have plenty to lose as I'm starting at 277 which is not quite the highest I've been, but my highest weight had to do with carrying a child, so that didn't really count . I want to get down to 160I haven't started exercising yet, but I have been eating right, taking multi/B/C vitamins and drinking gallons of water, I even stopped taking my Lexapro(which I wasn't really taking right to begin with)without much difficulty - so I really feel committed to this. One habit I haven't kicked yet but have definitely cut back on is my coffee - I really, really love my coffee and it made me very sad to have to cut back and not look forward to cutting off completely(but I will)...but I'm down from 32 ozs per day to 16 and rather than 9 splendas and a ton of creamer, I do 2 splendas and 2 tbs of creamer - counting it all! So, I'm working with myself to do the best I possibly can and the funny thing is that I am so confident that I can do it!
    I've been "lurking" on these board for a few weeks now and you are all amazing! And I think a big part of my commitment and excitement and confidence is due to all of you and the encouragement and advice and success I see from all of you on a daily basis. Each of you are truly wonderful, so thank you!

        Welcome Tamlyn! Glad you came out from Lurking - I did the same thing for a few weeks! LOL!

        I can not wait to hear your stories and see some before and during pics. after induction!

        Have you cheked out the exercise challenges? They are keeping me motivated! I love it!

          Hi Tamlyn. Yes, you can do it. We are all here to help motivate you and encourage you to do it. So happy you have a supportive dad who also had a good experience with the program. Come here often and get active in the forums, challenges and make friends who want to see you succeed!

            Hey Tamlyn! Welcome to the board. You say you use creamer in your coffee? Do you mean heavy whipping cream? if you're using "creamer", switch to the heavy cream, far less carbs in it! it's great you have your Dad for support in this way of eating.

            Coffee doesn't affect everyone's weight loss. i know it's a huge freak out to give up for many people. Just FYI, personally i have never stopped drinking coffee, I just limit myself two 1-2 cups per day. You need to see what will work for you.

            Nice to see someone so excited about taking this Atkins journey!

              sillygirl, yep I have been using regular creamer in my coffee(sugar free french vanilla, to be exact )because I haven't yet overcome it yet. I know it has more carbs than heavy cream, but I'll work my way down. Thanks for that though...I was pulling my hair out going through the forums for some magic to help me keep my coffee but quickly realized I just had to deal with cutting down!
              Stella, yep I sure have checked out the exercise challenges, the latest treadmill challenge caught my eye, now I have to get the treadmill back to it's "place in the sun" . Don't think I can manage 80 miles in a month though...not yet , but just wait, I will!

              Dreamof145, you're right I am pretty darn lucky to have such a supportive dad, he's something else...

                Why don't you start yourself a journal over in journal chats? Talk about great friendly people! Go check it out!

                You could slightly whip some heavy cream with sugar free vanilla and get the same good taste as the creamer!

                      Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

                      I think I'll take sillygirl's advice and start a journal chat. So far I haven't had much problem, except that I had 2 sodas and didn't realize that I was supposed to cound them(yikes), but now I know.

                      And I didn't get all my carbs in yesterday - ended up at 10 for the day...is that awful? What effect might that have on me(other than the nasty headache I seem to be carrying around)?

                      And I know I wasn't supposed to but I weighed yesterday morning and yahoooooo 7 pounds down! Awsome! Can't wait til the 2 weeks is over!

                      And the Christmas decorations are coming down today and the treadmill is coming out!!! Something else to look forward to!
