hey!
i have been reading this board for a few weeks now, and it is excellent. i am currently on day 9 of induction. i have never done atkins before. i have about 30 pounds to lose. i haven't weighed myself yet (not going to do that til day 14!) but i feel lighter and my clothes are definitely a bit looser.
i was on and off the south beach diet for almost three years. i lost 25 pounds the first time i did it, but i ended up gaining most of it back. after falling on and off the diet, i ended up just getting really sick of it. then i came across this board, and decided to try atkins. i had long distrusted the atkins diet, but after reading DANDR and reading this board, i've really come around to it. i think it's a great diet, especially for people like me who are struggling with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and insulin resistance.
compared to south beach phase 1 (both low carb *and* low fat! ack!) induction is actually pretty nice in comparison. i love being able to eat full-fat gourmet cheeses (on south beach, we were only allowed to eat low-fat cheese, which tastes like plastic.) i do very much miss drinking red wine (which i was able to do every day on south beach phase 2) but i am looking forward to the day when i begin the alcohol rung of OWL
looking forward to meeting you all!
cheers,
lilah
