  • Question???

I noticed that cottage cheese is not allowed during induction. Does anyone know why? The carbs in cottage cheese is minimal.

I've been on Atkins for 7 days, and have already lost 10lbs. of holiday weight!

    Re: Question???

Welcome to the board! 10 pounds gone is great. When you eat this way, you "move up the rungs" after induction to reintroduce foods into your diet. Induction is very strict eating to rid your body of excess. Dairy is rung 2 (more veggis is Rung 1). Go check out the Ongoing Weight Loss thread for the rest of the rung process!

      Re: Question???

It's not just about the carb count of the food. If that were the case, then 1/10th of a snickers bar could be induction legal too.

Cottage cheese is a fresh cheese. Fresh cheese goes on rung 2.

And if for no other reason than "Cuz Dr. Atkins said so."

        Re: Question???

I dont get this diet???????? I have been on the diet since the 2nd of January. I did not cheat, and by the first Friday (5th) I had dropped 9 lbs. I thought wow.........that must be a lot of just pure water weight, but it inspired me to keep going. (granted I go to the gym 5 days a week) I kept a goin'. Over the weekend I gained 1.5 lbs. Discouraged, I kept a goin' and weighed myself on like a Tuedsay and I lost the 1.5 probably due to finally going to the bathroom. I kept going and by this Friday morning I was a total of 9.5 lbs down. Cool I guess, but then I was thinking wow only .5 of a pound for an entire week. I am doing induction right....I do believe. So I thought I would eat tuna and be really strict as far as induction goes over this weekend. Well then I weighed and noticed .5 of a gain. I was infuriated, and decided to eat some granola bars and a little debbie snack cake. I woke up the next morning to see how far i put my self back, and it showed a 1.5 weight loss. I am happy, but confused because I feel like when I do the healthy carbs and lower fat & cal diets they work, but I am a little hungry from meal to meal. On this diet I am not hungry, but I am worried that when I do right I show less loss down the road (besides the first week) I get discouraged and cheat and it shows a loss after that cheat day. What gives? Can someone tell me please?

Hi N1diva, I'm sorry you're struggling right now. Please try posting this in the Induction Forum. You will find lots of information there about the induction phase. I believe you will get more assistance once this is posted over there!
