    Hi,

My name is Jeff (obviously) and I am excited to try Atkins again. I've tried it before (a couple of years ago) and am in the induction phase at this time. My biggest concern is the "bloodwork." I am a Type II diabetic, weigh about 290-300, had high cholestorol and high triglcerides. All are under control with medications. I want to get off the meds but I am concerned about long term effects of animal fat. Is there a forum that addresses these types of issues?

Thanks for your help, and I look forward to shagging off about 80 pounds in the next several months!

      Welcome Jeff!!

My cholesterol went down about 40 points after a year on Atkins. I imagine everyone is different, but there are many people here who have made very big improvements in their bloodwork numbers and some diabetics have even been able to go off their meds. I'd suggest you head over to the forum specifically for that as someone who's experienced with that can give you better information than I.

Thanks for the responses. I have checked out the diabetic forum and will check out the cholesterol one too. I've been a carb freak all my life. I blame it on living in Alaska where there isn't much light in the winter, thus the potato chips, pizza, pasta, and all that other "good" stuff fills a void.

Thanks for your encouraging words. I have cruised around the forum and all I see is great stuff!
