  • Hello all!

    Hi. This is my first post! I lurked for a couple of days, looked at some before and after pics (AMAZING!) and decided to register.

    Why am I here? Well, I went on a cruise vacation with my family last week. It was lovely, but I didn't have all that much fun. I missed out on so much because of my weight. I'm 5'7" and weighed 206. (I say "weighed" because I'm 204 today as a result of lowcarbing for the last 3 days!) My husband and daughters went on the rock-climbing wall...I watched and took pictures. They went on a "canopy tour" in Jamaica which was like flying over the treetops...I stayed on the ship and read a book. My husband begged me to go in the pool or hot tub with him...I refused because I was too embarrassed to be seen in a swimsuit. We had lots of pictures taken by the ship's photographer...I didn't want to purchase any of the photos because of how I looked.

    Our stateroom had mirrors all over the place. Up until then, I really had no idea just how fat I was. I guess I've only been looking at my face! (Can you say "denial"?) When I could see myself from all angles I finally realized that I am, indeed, obese.

    Anyway, I decided that we are going to go on a cruise again next year, but next time I am going to have fun! (That's the explanation for my username.) I want to be able to wear (and look good in) a bathing suit. I want to go on all the fun excursions like the canopy tour, and swimming with the dolphins. I want to climb the rock wall. I want to have a new wardrobe of cruise clothes that I can't wait to wear, because I look so good!

    So, thanks to anyone still reading, lol, and I'm glad to be here.

    Welcome lose2cruise! What's your game plan for Atkinsing? Woo hoo on the loss so far, pretty great! Welcome to the board, it's a great place to be, as you already know since you lurked!

        HI There! Welcome to the board! I'm sure you are going to have a wonderful time on your new you cruise! I've been thinking of that as my GOAL WEIGHT reward, it's aloooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time away, but that gives me a long time to save, LOL!
        Everyone here is wonderful, you'll find lots of advice and suggestions. Post often, good luck to you!

          Welcome aboard! All the things you mentioned are things that we don't think about on a day to day basis.. until they hit us! It's easy to live the day to day heavy .. nothing really stands in the way until something like your trip comes up and 'smack' it hits us!

            Erin, you're so right. Day after day I've worn my baggy jeans and big shirts and avoided mirrors, photographs, and most of all, bathing suits. I guess I slid by like that for years. It's weird how easy it is to deceive yourself. I mean, I knew I was wearing bigger clothes, and that my knees hurt so bad I couldn't walk up stairs easily...how could I not realize what I looked like?

            Well, anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome. (And I'm down another pound today!)

                    good for you, I know it hard, I had a similar experience in Hawaii, really wanted to go scuba diving, but the weight belt wouldnt keep me under the water, very frustrating. I just started this program too I cant figure out how to start a new post, what do I do

                      Wow! Am I supposed to feel this good? LOL. It is day six, and I feel....motivated is the only way to put it. I'm a stay-at-home mom who is usually very disorganized, but today it was like someone turned on the light in my brain. I finished all my piled-up laundry, made dinner, and cleaned out my linen closet. My husband is going to be shocked.

                      (Oh, and I lost another pound, for a grand total of 4!)
