    Hello all!

    I just found these boards and am hoping to get some support for doing a low carb diet. I have been on Adkins before and was very successful. I stopped when I got pregnant and never went back. Now 7 years, 2 kids and many pounds later I am back.

    I must say however that people have been less than supportive. Whenever I am called to explain why I am not eating carbs the response I get is a lecture on how dangerous it is. I am hoping that I can get support here.

    Hi Carrie,

    This is definately the place for support of all kinds! People here are used to the nay-sayers!

    If you have had success with Atkins before, then you know the ropes. Good luck with it all and see you around the board

      Welcome Back!! People are dorks. It's really nobody's business besides your own what you do or don't eat. And it's not that you're not eating carbs, you're just replacing unhealthy ones (like over processed food items) with healthy ones (like veggies).

        Welcome, we're glad to have you join us. You'll find lots of support and encouragement here with people who want to see you succeed. Get active on the board, make friends and enjoy the journey. You'll soon feel great and the remarks from non-believers won't matter to you anymore. You can do it, we are all here to help!

            Welcome to ADBB Carrie! This is a great board for tips, inspiration and activities (exercise challenges, journals etc.)

            Don't worry about the Atkins critics... there's a wealth of information out there to support this way of eating and that shows how healthy it is. Very soon it'll be your own body that will be telling you how good for you this way of eating is!

              Welcome Carrie! We're all doing this together, our LC lives are ours .. and the others, well.. their loss (or gain - in weight at least haha)!

                Welcome Carrie!

                Atkins works and I know that personally. I lost over 67 lbs and then fell off the wagon due to many many personal problems. I went back to old habits and ended up gaining alot of weight.

                Atkins is the only plan that has ever worked for me - a plan I liked and enjoyed. I have always hated weight watchers or counting calories. That's just not for me.

                Don't let these people telling you that you shouldn't count carbs keep you from the plan. The plan works. I have found it better in some cases to just tell peole I'm watching what I'm eating. They don't have to know the specifics.

                I'm just so happy you are back. I'm back too and I feel great. It's the first time in months that I have felt so good and felt like I can lose this weight.
