    Re: Desperate for help please

    Hi Lisaloo,

Thanks for your support. I do appreciate it. I have done atkins myself before about three years ago.Lost 10 kilos but couldnt afford to continue eating all that meat and went off. The good thing is i managed to keep the 10 kilos off. However i do remember losing weight much easier then and it dropped off...not like now...its alot harder at the moment.
As for the diabetic levels, i am thrilled. I was averaging on 17 daily and my doctor wanted to put me on insulin, but my concern was that 1, you cant lose weight while taking insulin, and 2, i was worried about the time coming when i would have to take more and more. So i decided to do atkins as a last result to avoid insulin. I am happy to say i am off all my diabetic meds now and averaging between 6 and 8 each day...what an amazing difference and some of the problems, like hot and painful feet are improving..that in itself is a pleasure as i was in a lot of pain with my feet.
The weight is so slow coming off but when i see my sugar levels i cant help smiling.

          Re: Desperate for help please

I was going to say all the stuff that the other ladies have already told you -- more veggies etc and MORE water -- I drink aroun 3 litres a day ( can you hear me sloshing around?) I am in the same situation as far as weight loss is concerned -- lost 5 kilo the first two weeks and then nothing -- I am into week 5 now . I am on hormones and medications etc so i am expecting things to go slower for me . I feel great though and have a heap more energy and no hunger. I have started to be a bit more careful with my diet --- am counting carbs ( weighing and measuring) worked out how much protein i needed each day ( so as not to go over -- protein can be turned to glucose if you hav too much ) and keeping under my calorie limit ( without going too far under! lots of things that can be factors in your weight loss efforts. I have been doing this for the past few days so fingers crossed i start to see some results. It can be really discouraging to not see the scales move one iota -- let alone weight gain! I recommend that you read the Diet FAQS etc to trouble shoot your program .. little things can influence the way you lose like hidden carbs etc!
let us know how u are doing!
          Cheers Donna

              Re: Desperate for help please

Thanks Donna for your advise. I know they say you shouldnt have so much protein that it turns to glucose, but what about fat. I see that you are supposed to eat plenty of it as it helps burn the fat..lol..sounds weird, but is there a limit when it gets too much.
