  • "Lurker no more" and new to Atkin's

Hello everyone, I just thought I should introduce myself. My name is Kathy and I live in upstate NY. I have been lurking for over a week now, and thought it time to join in. This is a wonderful forum with tons of great people not to mention very informative.

So about me; I turned 50 last July, and I got myself a motorcycle licence, and a brand new motorcycle. I have been very overweight most of my adult life. I am a type II diabetic, and have high blood preassure, just to name a few of my medical problems. I tried to diet from time to time, but always gave up due to hunger, and cravings.

It is now it's time to get really serious. I stared reading about Atkins, and I think this is for me. I don't want to look like a beach ball riding a motorcycle this year.
I started eating low carb on January 22th, but it wasn't according to induction. I lost 1.5 lbs the first week. Then I found this forum and bought "The Book". I started the 14 day induction on January 29th, I lost 4.5 lbs. for a total of 6 lbs. as of this morning. I feel GREAT....I'm not hungry, and I don't have any cravings. I'm drinking between 90 and 110 oz. of water everyday. I will probably stay on induction longer than 14 days. I am really excited and ready to start my new way of life.

Hi Kathy, glad you decided to join us for real. I am a recent joiner myself and have found a supportive community like this is so helpful in helping my keep on track and motivated, I hope you find the same.

I love the motorcycle as a motivational tool too. I think I need to convince my wife that I should get a motorcycle to help me lose weight. Hmmm I wonder if that would work. =)

    See you around!

Thanks for the support. I am really feeling great. I am sure this is right for me. My only regret is that I didn't start Atkins years ago.

              Helllooooo Kathy...
Don't worry about not doing Atkins a year ago....look to the future. A bright awesome one! This plan is so easy....oh yes....one thing, don't be afraid to jump to the OWL. I was terrified when I first started doing this....several other members talked me into it...(twisted my arm haha) and it's been so easy. It's nice to say hello to some of those things you can have again. but...still...when you're ready, you'll be ready.

Good luck, drink your water, keep us all posted!
