    Tee Hee

    Hello all!

My names Liz and I am 18 years old. I weight about 175 at the moment. I am still in highschool. I want to lose my weight. I have tried everything to lose weight. This is a tough story to tell but I recently weened myself off of an eating disorder. I was ana/mia for the longest time and I lost the weight but when I binged, I binged hard and furious. So all the muscle I lost returned itself with ugly fat. BLAH!

I wanted to try something that worked. My friend Rorey tried the Atkins diet and said he lost a vulumious amount of weight. Of course as usual my eyes widen and I just had to try it. "If he can lose 130 pounds from this diet, maybe I could lose my weight too."

I am a beginner, Newbie at this, so please please PLEASE I must insist that you spill every inch and little detail about this lifestyle that you know.

I don't have the edition 2002 yet. BUT GOING TO GET IT, just its really snowy outside and conditions are horrible.

Please tell me what you guys have done.

Also, it might be a big challenge for me because "not as much of a meatlover fan" but I am willing to try and love meat if it truely revs up that its rep has said. If I lose the weight its worth loving meat.

But I have one problemo. I have school okay. 7 hours of classes, no lunch, no break. My math teacher is willing to let me eat in his class since he really doesn't respect our principal. What is some good things to bring, but don't take up a lot of room?

    Thanks SO MUCH!!!!
    ~<3~Liz~<3~

Hello Liz... welcome to ADBB! This is the place for encouragement and good low carb advice.

Great that you're about to get DANDR 2002. It's sooo important to understand how this diet works. In the meantime, take a look around the induction forum and read the stickies there. They are very informative.

Here are a couple of links to get you off to the right start:

    Rules of induction:
    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=6782

    Induction acceptable foods:
    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=6781

Things you can munch on during your day: raw veggie sticks, hard boiled eggs, cubes of cheese, leftover meat, olives.
Remember to drink masses of water... that really is important. Also exercise above what you already do.

Good luck with your journey to better health and a trim figure!

Hi Liz, welcome to the board! I like to keep individual packs of string cheese in my purse. They're great for on the spot snacking, don't need refrigeration! you've come to the right place to find the support you will want when eating Atkins style. I wish you much success.

Oh my gosh guys thanks so much!! I find losing weight is better when you have someone to cry to besides friends or whatever. I don't know why but it just puts you on focus when you have boards like this.

        Thank you guys!!!!

          Hi there,

I'm new to the board too, and agree completely that it's very motivating to have this community to turn to. Someone advised me to join a challenge, so I did, and darned if it didn't motivate me to do more than I would have other wise. rawks. Welcome!!

To get the book really easily and inexpensively, check out Amazon.com. There's a direct link in the Amazon box at the bottom of the page. It's about $3.50 (that includes shipping). In a bookstore you'll pay full price. This way it's delivered straight to your door. Easy peezy!

          Good luck!

Awesome I feel like I am in the family already .

I already read the first 10 chapters in the book {laughs surprisingly}. And I got to the induction chapter. I am not going to start tomorrow because my mom hasn't gone grocery shopping yet but I am starting on either sunday or monday. Preferably I'd like to start on sunday just cause its one of the best days in the week.

I do have a question though. I memeber him saying fats like mayo and all that. Is mustard out of the question? I didn't even see it stated at all. -- big mustard fan!

Welcome! Yes, mustard is definately ok - I'm a big mustard fan too.

Just one comment/question - what kind of school do you go to where you don't get a lunch? I thought that was a law that schools had lunch periods.

I am in Highschool, and actually the school board directors just banned "no lunch " classes.

It was my choice. I know it's terrible but to be totally and completely honest I can't wait to graduate. It was part of me [graduate early plan]. I am exactly 1 year ahead of my fellow classmates on graduation.

Just ready to move on. I felt like I been there long enough.

Thanks Hon! Yea my friend says the same aswell. She's a bit older then me, but to always remember that starting now or back when you started is better then not starting at all.

Really what motivates me right now is Springs' Acmon! There is so really really nice clothes that aren't expensive not really and I am dieing to get to my goal weight. Plus I want to wear a full fledge bikini this summer

What's kinda like bugging me at the moment is my mom, I told her about it. I told her about the 14 day Induction. "no pasta, no bread, no starches, no milk unless its cheese or butter, no fruit." I guess I should have left fruit out because when I said that I guess she was thinking I was going on a restricted diet "which Ive already done she just don't know that".

I was like "LISTEN MOM, ITS ONLY FOR 2 WEEKS NOT THE REST OF MY LIFE. Just to get me started off."

She claims that I should take this slowly or whatever. Robert Atkins actually made sense to me. I told her if she would read the book or the 1st ten chapters 'which is a breeze for her' that she would see what I was talking about aswell..

Hi Angel, your Mom is right when she says to take it slowly. This is not a "crash diet' but rather a way of eating for life. Slow, steady weight loss is the way to keep it off! Since you have read the book, which is great, and you follow Dr. Atkin's advice you will lose weight in a healthy manner.
