  • hi I'm new and need some help

    Hi,
I'm just starting the induction on monday. I have some questions hopefully someone can help me. Can you have strawberries? A reciepe in the atkins book calls for strawberries. I didn't think you can have fruit during the induction phase.

I just had a baby in August. I was heavier that I would of liked when I got pregnant so now I have to loose the baby weight plus some. Me and my husband are doing it together. He only has about 15 lbs to loose, I want to loose about 43lbs. I was just doing weight watchers. My husband was doing Atkins and with him eating all the high fat foods was making me cheat on weight watchers. So I decided that maybe atkins was better for me. I wasn't loosing any weight on weight watchers anyways.

I've been reading this site now for about 1 week. I find it very helpful and motivational. After reading all the information I feel that I can make this a permanent lifestyle change.

Hopefully I get to know all of you. I will be here a while.

Hello there IknowIcandoit. Welcome to our ADBB family. We're happy you decided to join us. Many congrats btw, on your new baby!
It's great that you have your husband doing Atkins with you. You'll be able to support and encourage each other, which is awesome.

As for strawberries... no, these aren't allowed on the induction phase, which only lasts for two weeks though. After that you can choose whether to move to OWL (ongoing weight loss) or stick with induction (called "extended induction") for a while longer. Strawberries can be added to your diet when you reach the Berries rung (No. 5).

If you haven't got a copy of DANDR 2002 edition, you'd be doing yourself (and your husband) a big favour by getting a hold of one. Understanding how and why this way of eating works, is a huge help to making your Atkins journey problem free.

Keep us posted as to how you get along!

Hi iknowicandoit! Yes, you can do it! Welcome to the board. I share sallyseachange's thought of reading the book. It is very particular, at least during induction and it's very important to do this properly or you will be sabotaging your efforts. Read around in the induction forum, and the FAQ's for further induction rules. You're right when you say this is permanent lifestyle change. You'll see how easy it is once you get started!
