  • Hi former Weight Watcher's... returning to Atkins

Hi All! Tag Germany! G'day Aussie!

I tried Atkins years back, but didn't really know very much about it, nor am I an expert now. I lost 32lb with WW a few years back... but in 4 years time, I'm nearly back where I started and I don't want to put my family through the grumpy, moody, low-blood sugared me, that is me on WW.

I'm 10 days into induction and doing pretty good! It's just always the question of what to eat! It's especially difficult as at times, eggs make me squeamish!

    Good luck to all!

Welcome, mommyrn! Congratulations on sticking with it through 10 days... you're almost there. Have you read Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition)? That WILL help make you an expert. Lots of good recipe ideas, too, to help keep things interesting. I've found that's a key for me -- I can't get bored with what I'm eating, or I'll feel deprived. Also, try this site, which has a lot of recipes appropriate for induction: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html.

    Good luck to you!

Hi Mommyrn. Welcome. I agree that reading the DANDR will give you lots of inspiration and explain how the program works and why. Also, making friends here and becoming active in the challenges, journals, and unlimited information will give you a boost in motivation to make it happen. We are all here working together and cheering each other on. You can do it.

Hello mommyrn and welcome to the board. Happy to have you join us here!
I'll ditto what Adena and Becky said about reading the book. It makes such a difference when you understand the science behind this way of eating.

That link Adena gave you to Linda's site is fantastic. Lots of wonderful recipes there and little chance to get bored with foods. The recipes there with an asterisk are induction friendly.

If you are bored by induction foods though, I'd make the move to OWL as soon as you finish induction. Many are afraid to move, imagining that their weight loss will stop. Nothing could be further from the truth. Often people lose more on OWL than on induction, particularly the first rung where you add extra veggies.

        Happy losing!

Great to have you on board Mommyrn..plenty to eat, amazing things to eat actually. Check out that link above to that site. It is amazing. Lots of induction friendly things you can have. But as Sally said....don't be afraid of moving onto OWL either. It broaden's the horizon so to speak!

          Welcome and good luck!

Re: Hi former Weight Watcher's... returning to Atkins

Hey there Mommyrn, my neighbor just left the WW world and came on board Atkins in Jan. She has finally gotten over the higher fat content and the ability to loose weight eating evil fats...she and her husband are enjoying so many good things they just can't believe it...She is not hard core doing atkins, but a modified lower carb style of eating none the less...She said, "I can't believe how good I feel. I can't believe the energy we have, where did it come from???"
Those are the two big earmarks of low carbing, how great we feel once our bloodsugars have stablized and the amazing energy! Atkins is a great plan.

Welcome to the board moommyrn! Sounds like you're doing very well so far! You can surely find some great recipes at linda's site that don't involve eggs in the morning!
