  • On day 3.....

    Hi everyone...

Im a newbie to this forum... I just started this WOE recently and wanted to find a few friends online for support etc.

I am currently on day 3 of induction and feeling great!

I have always been a water drinker, so that part hasn't been too difficult for me, although today it seems like Im struggling to get it all down. *sipping as I type this.

I've read a bunch of your posts and you all seem great, and very helpful and informative.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you, and looking forward to a new, healthier me!

          Re: On day 3.....

Thanks guys! See what I mean, you are all very nice and welcoming. I love that!

I do have a question about peppers. Peppers are listed under the acceptable foods for Induction. Are bell peppers included in this? And if so, does it matter the color, red, yellow, green? Bell peppers are one of my fave veggies, I have some in my fridge, but dont want to eat them if they are not induction friendly. I have looked for the this question, but didn't see any info posted, forgive me if it is located somewhere I did not see.

Also, cabbage is listed under the other acceptable veggies- Can we fry the cabbage in a bit of olive oil? Would that still be considered acceptable?

I am determined to stick to the rules with no cheating!

          Any help/feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

              Welcome to the board!!

Sorry, I can't answer the pepper one, I loaned out my book to someone. But for the cabbage, why not fry it in butter instead of olive oil, not that the olive oil isn't acceptable, butter's just more fat...

                Justkeepswimming,

Welcome on board! Peppers, let see, let me get out my handy dandy atkins bible (haha)...they are on the list...but I do not see much reference to green red or yellow. I suppose you could use them for salad garnish...or even a snack, I would think though that there would be some natural sugar in them...maybe someone else can help with this one....Sally?

Sorry, not much help to you hon, but welcome to the board, you know it's always good to see someone in the right frame of mind when they start..congrats on Day 3...before you know, you'll have lots of days and less tummy under belt!

Keep us posted! You might want to post this question in the 14 day induction forum, you might get a lot more hits....

                good luck!

I've never counted any differently for red, green or yellow peppers. The only thing I once heard is that the red peppers are the 'healthiest'. Whether it's true or not, I haven't a clue.

As for cabbage... yes; by all means fry it. Yummmm!

                            Re: On day 3.....

Thanks! I had some red bell pepper last nite, cooked with some steak meat and ate it kinda like fajitas, using lettuce leaves as the tortilla. It was yum!

And fried cabbage is grreeeeat! I used to make it all the time before atkins and loved it! I season mine with a bit of salt, pepper, sometimes some garilic. Sometimes I chop a bit of onion in it and bacon is good mixed in as well.

I love how Im not being deprived of my fave foods!

So today is day 4... and I weighed myself this morning. I wasnt plainning to do so until at least one week in, but Im a weigh-aholic sometimes.

Im down 3 lbs. Which is probably water, but it still made me happy and kept me motivated. And I feel good! THe past three mornings I have woken up feeling so much more refreshed and energized than usual. I thought I would be feeling icky.. but I dont! I had a slight headache the first two days, but nothing I couldnt deal with.

Im so happy I made this change. I just wish I would have sooner!!

Scooter... I've never actually fried cabbage. I usually toss it (pre-boiled) with sautèd chopped leek and then melt in a little fontina cheese... yummmmm!
Was really just answering Justkeepswimming's query as to whether you can fry it on Atkins or not. Seems like it's something to try though seeing what she and Silly say!

                              Congrats Justkeepswimming, on your loss!
