  • Hey there

I am on day 5 and feeling pretty good. My husband jumped on bored yesterday so that will make things easier. I have 4 children to feed so that is the difficult time. I also work in a gym and feel large compared to eveyone there. I am tired of being overweight so I am doing something about it. I have never had to watch my weight until child #3(who is now 4) and after a partial hysterectomy.

So here it goes!! Thanks for having a place to share!

Hi Tina! Welcome to the board! Perfect that your husband has joined you in this adventure. With the kids, you will now only have to cook 2 meals instead of 3 different ones!

        Re: Hey there

Hello! I am also new here I am on day 8. I also have 4 children they eat pretty much what I eat. The two little ones (4 and 5)never did eat the side dishes anyway so they are happy with meat and maybe a piece of bread and butter! As far as the older ones (10 and 11)they eat the meat and veggies and might add something else to it so its been working out great. That's awesome that your hubby is doing it to mine is to its nice having someone to support you.
Good Luck I look forward to hearing about your success

          Re: Hey there

Hey there back! It is great that you and hubby are working together for your goals. That is awesome! As far as the kids are concerned what I do is some tings like this.

Say we are having mashed cauliflower with our roast beef dinner, I will boil a few potatoes for them maybe 1/2 a potatoe pre kid, and then mix their potatoes with the mashed cauliflower, reserving what my hubby and I will eat on the side. Then they are starting to eat a few less carbs which is a good thing, but still getting the carbs they need while growing. I have a teen and a one year old and one in between so the food choices have to be good.

Another family favorite is taco salad. make your taco meat, for you and hubby serve it over salad veggies, top with a bit of sour cream, cut up green onions and red peppers add shredded cheese and hot sauce and voila! For the kids if they like the shells, give it to em in shells or just crunch up a few torilla chips into their salad so they aren't getting excessive amounts of carbs, but are still getting some grains.

It is a good thing for your kids to try new things and to back off of the very carb laden foods that are readily available, so don't go wild with limiting their carbs, just make wiser decissions. And while they are young it is easier to get them into those habits. Believe me teenagers DO NOT like change!

WTG, for making great decissions for your family, you can be proud of it considering the epidemic of chidlhood obesity, and you are taking a proactive role!

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!

            Hi,

I have also got 4 kids and just started Induction (on day 9 at the mo).

I have just been cooking my atkins meals and adding either rice, pasta or potatoes to the kids plates. Lucky for me they are pretty good eaters and so far have liked everything i have served up.
