    Hi everyone, I am day five of induction, as well as my fiance. We decided to to do this together to look good for our Honeymoon in Turks and Caicos.

    Well everything is going good so far, we are both in ketosis and have lost about 3-4 pounds. We made a few errors in the first couple of days, of what we could have on the induction, but we are corrected and back in line.

    I do have a question for anyone who may know. I am curious about aspartame. The book says you can have sugar free gelatin and whipped cream, but everything sugar free seems to have aspartame in the ingredients. What kind of whip cream and gelatin can you have??. I am also curious about bacon and turkey sausage. The book says you can have these two for breakfast, but everything seems to have have sodium nitrate and corn syrup in the ingredients. If anyone has a list of products that are diet friendly, I would appreciate it.

    I look forward to losing all those unwanted pounds with everyone..

    Hi capemay! Welcome to the board. Re the aspartame, some believe it will stall your weight loss, not to mention it's all chemical! Try to find products that use Splenda instead. There's many out there. The SF Jello does have aspartame, but it never caused a stall for me.

    Always use heavy whipping cream. The higher the fat %, the lower the carb %. I make my own and use Splenda packets as the sweetener.

      Hi Capemay. Welcome to the board. Awesome that you're going to do Atkins in "tandem". It's great to have company with a lifestyle change. You'll be able to support and motivate each other.

      Well... I just wanted to say hello and that we're glad to have you here, as I can't answer your questions re products with aspartame/nitrates. I live in Italy where all products are different.

        Good day! Welcome.

        Turkey sausage and Bacon. Hmm. Well as for the turkey sausage, you can easily make your own, just buy ground turkey and put in the applicable spices and seasonings...then no Nitrates. As for bacon, that one is a bit harder, there are several brands out there that are NSA (No sugar added) and Low Sodium. If you have a Health Food store, you can buy the No Nitrates added bacon there, but you'd have to cancel your honeymoon (haha) it is very expensive and doesn't last long hardly at all. Just use the bacon as more of a salad add on. A strip or two once or twice a week won't be too bad though.

        Sugar free jello, can't help you much there. Jello Brand Jello has been promising for the past year to come out with a product that uses splenda instead of aspartame, but have yet to do so. I've used Knox unflavored gelatin and flavored it with splenda and DaVince Sugarfree syrup, but it seemed to add to many sweetend items to my daily sweet count...

        As for whipped cream......yummmmmmmmmmmmmmy......you a 1/2 pint of heavy whipping cream and packet or 2 of splenda and a splash of Sugar Free Pure Vanilla.........

        Heavenly.

        Anyway, congrats on joining the board, your upcoming wedding, and day 5 of induction. It really gets easier once you move to OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss). I think it's awesome your finance is doing this with you. It's always easier with a partner for sure!

          Thank for all the info, Induction is great we are both enjoying it. I really don't miss my old eating habits. I have not felt this great in years. Cannot wait to get to OWL!!!.
