      Re: New Lad from OZ

Hey there! I have a few ideas for breakfast too. It was the one meal I had the hardest time eating when I started this WOE and it now is probably my favorite.

I usually eat some kind of deli meat, like low carb salami, some cheese (about 2 ounces) and a red pepper with blue cheese dip. Or if I am feeling like having something sweet, I make a mock danish and have a few sausage patties with sugar free maple syrup to dip the meat in. I also love a nice sweet cup of tea to go with it. A great omlet is always a nice choice. Add a few mushrooms and a bit of asparagus and some strong cheese like gruyere. Awesome! And if you really need a bowl of cereal, try the mock cinammon toast crunch recipe. Most of these recipes can be found around here. If you need more info go to my journal and ask for the recipe and I'll find a way to post a link so you can see how they are made.

Anyways, have a great Atkins journey! Look forward to seeing your success!

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!

Take egg whites and beat them into a meringue (like for a pie). If you aren't familiar with what that means...beat them with a kitchen whisk until it makes a thick foam (almost like whipped cream). Then spread the whipped egg whites onto a baking pan (flat cookie sheet or pizza sheet) thinly but evenly. Bake until slightly browned.

This will make an excellent "bread" to spread things on, or use as "crackers" and such. I can't say that it has much flavor, but it's been a real life saver. When you get to the point of adding foods back in such as peanut butter, this is GREAT for spreading peanut butter on. It could also be used as a "crust" for pizza. The ideas are limitless...
What kind of oven did you bake in Joy? Hot... medium... cool? And for how long? This sounds like a useful and easy "base" to have around.

          350 degrees farenheit

You can bake it longer and it gets kind of crispy, but crumbles easily. If you allow it to stay a little rubbery, it works really good for bending, rolling, folding etc. and can be used as a wrap.
