  • Hi...I'm an idiot!

I posted an introduction in January and was very excited about the diet. Then I did something really stupid. I started surfing the net and found another lowcarb diet, one that is also VERY low in fat and calories. It promised extremely rapid weightloss so I tried it.

I ate almost nothing but eggs and skinless chicken breasts for 13 days, during which time I lost 14 pounds. Of course I went nuts eating such a restrictive diet and quit before 2 weeks was up. Here's the really stupid part - instead of going back to Atkins, I chucked the whole thing and started eating bread, cake, etc., etc.

I managed to forget that lowcarbing makes me feel wonderful. The arthritis pain in my knees goes away and so does my GERD. Now all the pain is back and I'm pissed. I'm also embarrassed to let my family know I'm back on a diet.

So, here I am again, re-starting Atkins right now, and hoping that my family doesn't notice. I'm going to need all the forum support I can get.

    First mini-goal - to get below 190!

Hey! Welcome back! Good thing you found out this is the way to go! If the other site 'promised extremely fast weight loss', it's too good to be true! Glad your arthritis is better as well.

Welcome back Lose2cruise. Am so glad you decided to come back to Atkins. Like you said, you feel good and energised and it's a very healthy way to eat. Ultra rapid weight loss schemes never work in the long run.

Hope you find the support and inspiration you're looking for here. Many have, and have happily reached goal. That's my wish for you.

          Happy losing!

            Re: Hi...I'm an idiot!

Hey there Cruisin, welcome back...I have in my journey's FOUND that every time I come back to Atkins it brings a deeper level of revelation, A REAL knowing, "hey this plan is the one for me"...I know we try to tinker and fiddle with diets so we can "have it all" but we can't have it all and be at a normal healthy weight...our bodies tend to store fat and we tend to over eat the carbs...
But coming back should really take you to a place of energy and healthiness that you can stop and say, "now this is how I want to feel"...NOt too many diets actually make you feel great! This one does...if you get in it's specific place of ketosis.

                Re: Hi...I'm an idiot!

Wow, you guys are so nice! Thank you.

I had second thoughts about posting here last night, but your responses were just the thing I needed this morning. What a great way to get started!

You're so right about how this diet feels. I have never felt as energetic, clear-thinking, and pain-free as I have on Atkins. I wish I knew what caused me to quit in the past. Maybe I should try journalling. There must be some point that I keep hitting where I lose my resolve. And the crazy thing is, it's only a matter of days before all the bad stuff comes back...the intense joint pain, the heartburn, the fuzzy brain, etc.

I have to stop thinking in terms of weight loss (so I won't be seduced by any stupid quick-loss schemes again) and start thinking in terms of a lifetime of good health. (And then any weightloss will be icing on the cake!...poor choice of words, lol.)
