  • Day 3 Starting

    HI my name is ZInah I am from Boston, MA. I just started Atkins 3 days ago. I can't believe I am sticking to this because it has been a challenge not to eat my favorite carbs like pasta and rice.
    I am Puerto Rican and Arabic so rice is huge with us. I am determined to limit cards and try this new life style. I have had luck in the past but never stuck to it.
    I am at 176 lbs and I am 5'6. I am curious what you all have loss in the first 2-3 weeks.

    Hello Zinah,

    Glad to have you with us. Well, myself, in the first 2 - 3 weeks, I lost 20 pounds, however, that was not the normal loss. I think most women around here have lost 7 - 15 pounds. But once again, it's all based on your body and how close you follow the plan. I do understand about the rice and pasta, and I know that will be rather hard, mine was bread. I loved it, made it, bought it, and now, I steer away from the bed aisle at the store, I don't go to the bakery, and (much to my family's dismay) I don't bake it anymore, except for the occasional pizza crust for them. But it doesn't bother me. Because while they are eating pizza, I'm eating my own lo-carb version of pizza.

    This is a wonderful plan, we are happy to have you here with us. Good luck and keep us all updated on your progress or even if your having a hard stretch. I check out the before and after pics if I'm having a craving or something.....

      Welcome Zinah! Congratulations on sticking to Atkins for three days. I'm sure that soon those three will become thirty, then three hundred and... well, the sky's the limit!

      Feel free to ask any questions you might have and join some of the board activities. There's a boardwide exercise challenge coming up on Monday 12th March. All you have to do is 20 mins of an exercise of your choice for that one day only. So simple...and a great way to start the 'exercise' ball rolling, if you already haven't. See the portal page for details, if that interests you.

        Welcome to the board. I lost 14 lbs the first 2 weeks and maybe 3 the next week.

          Hi Zinah! Welcome to the board. Good for you for giving up the rice. I'm sure that'll be hard because it's such a staple in your life. The good news is that as you move up the rungs in adding food to your diet, you will be able to eat whole grains, just no white stuff!

          Come around the board often, it will help to keep you going!
