  • New to forum but not Atkins

Just wanted to introduce myself - I am Angie, 44 and a carb addict. I started Atkins yesterday for the 2 time in 3+ years. The first time I lost about 75 lbs, but gained all but 25 of that back because I ate all the wrong stuff for a LONG time.

I believe this time I have learned that after loosing the weight I must continue to heavily limit the carbs. I am a carb addict and know that carbs and I just don't get along so I need the lifestyle without all the junk.

I have only been able to read on here a couple of times but just from what I have seen it is AWESOME and I can't wait to be a part of all you wonderful people.

I do have a lot of stuff going on in my life but I will not let that cause me to fail. I just started a candle business with my best friend, my son just started acting and we homeschool - so my days are busy and it is very easy to just grap something and eat. However, I will not be doing that now UNLESS it is Atkins friendly. Also, I fell in November and hurt my back so pretty much any exercise right now other than a small amount of walking is out of the question. I must admit last time on Atkins I did very little exercise other than walking and it still worked wonders.

Thanks for the wonderful tips, success stories and general info - I know that having this will keep me focused.

Looking forward to getting to know you all,
    Angie

Hi Angie. Welcome to the board. So happy to have you join us. The forums are full of inspirational people who share their time and advice on making this a way of life.

There is a board wide challenge 20/24 that you might want to check out - for challenging yourself to exercise (walking is great) that is offered in the challenge forum.

My advice would be to get active in the board and make friends to keep yourself motivated and focused. Everyone here is exceptionally friendly and wants to see you succeed. Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress. You can do it.

        Welcome Angie!
Ditto what Becky said... the 20/24 challenge is a great way to start the exercise ball rolling. You only have to commit to any exercise of your choice for 20 mins on the one day. No more... but it's a start! Just any exercise that you can manage. Details on the portal page.

I wish you all the very best on your journey to better health and lower weight!
        Before and after:

            Hi Angie,

Glad to have you with us! Sorry it took so long to get here! okay....

hmm, carb addict, wow 75 pounds! you know what you sound like an awesome candidate for the Second Time Around Forum, I'm there and some other folks who 'fell off the wagon so to speak' but we've all dusted off and got right back on, making that new comittment. Come on over and say Hi, post some reasons or thoughts on how you think to started to drift, and perhaps there may be some folks there that have had the same issue and be able to help guide you past that!! Never hurts to ask I say!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your back problems, maybe this plan can help get rid or at least assist with that as well. I hear you also about the exercise thing, but a 5 minute walk can easily turn into a 10 minute walk and so on....every little bit helps....maybe do like everybody says...try the 20/24 challenge....just a 20 minute walk is all it takes.....pretty nice!

Anyway, I'm proud to be your host, if you have any questions, please feel free to post them and we look forward to hearing about your progress!!

Re: New to forum but not Atkins

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome and positive words.

I look forward to meeting everyone - I will be reading here many times daily, although I may not be posting a lot due to getting this new business up and running. But once that all slows down I will be a posting fool LOL

Scooter, I will check out that forum - sounds like a good place for me.

I was out and about most of the day - so I got my walking in today. I love to walk but with my injured back and the numbness going down my left leg it is sorta hard to like it right now. But I will keep on keeping on.

I made it through day 2 -- woooo hooo, looking forward to day 202

Thanks again for the friendly welcomes - I love it !!

Not hungry - have to force myself to eat ??!!!????

Thanks again everyone - I am half way through day three and feel pretty good. However, I am having a hard time eating. I am just not hungry - I have to MAKE myself eat something. OK, that is NOT the old me. I am an emotional eater and run to food when happy, sad, indifferent, shy - ok you get the point.
Guess my problem could be wanting to eat all the time though.

Thanks again for all your help - this message board is a God send.
