  • Newbie Here Saying 'Hello'.....

    Hello there everyone!

I came across this forum a few nights back and can't seem to stay away from it!

It has been soooo inspiring that I am going to start my Atkins journey on Monday!

Not sure how much I have to lose (been avoiding the scales for a few months!) but I know it's quite a lot! I think last time I weighed myself I was around the 14ST mark(I'm 5FT 4)....so I will see on Monday what more damage has been done! I had a brief try at Atkins a few years back but it was very brief and my heart wasn't in it. This time I'm determined and I know I have to get some lard off my bones! I have always had big boobs but these days my arris matches them and it's not on!

Anyway...I'm 33yrs young. I live in Manchester, England with my hubby and our two children. I work full time and my house is a mess, lol.
I feel that I need to make some sort of order in my life...main things being my weight and getting the house organised!

So...I'm going to keep scanning these boards to prepare myself and will report back on Monday with my weight (ick!).....

Take care all & have a great weekend!

Hey Wheresmyfeet, welcome to the board. Good for you for making the decision to move forward. You've already made that first big step, now all it takes it baby steps towards your goal! You are correct, this board is really addictive, be sure to check out all the forums, find the ones that work for you. They all start with sticky's, what these are, is tidbits of information that will help you along your journey. First off, make sure you get your DANDR booka and read it faithfully, it contains all the information you will need to prepare and get ready for your new way of life.

My name is Scooter, and I am so happy to be your host! I'd love to give you some possible tools that might make this switch a little easier

For Recipes try: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html the ones marked with an (*) are induction friendly, a lot of people say they get bored with the plan, no worries and no excuses, there are enough recipes here to give you variety by the boat load!!

To track your weight loss (oh yes you will have weight loss!) use www.fitday.com it's a FREE online program, where you can track every carb you eat, you can customize certain foods that you may use, it's a highly preferred site by your friends here. Oh yes, FREE is good! I can live with free.

To decorate your posting signature, you might want to look at www.tickerfactory.com and you can watch your little icon move as you lose the weight.

One more thing , sorry, I can't help it, I love this way of life, my energy and motivation has tripled since doing this plan....anyway...

You are going to definately have to set up an exercise plan, whether walking, gym, it can be simple exercises at home, that you can do in 20 minutes each day....pretty simple.....and since you said you are starting on Monday, the 12th.....we have just the thing for you....

    check this out: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....ead.php?t=41332

all you have to do it this...
    1. Sign up in this thread
    2. Commit to doing 20 minutes of exercise in one 24 hour period.

Hiya WheresMeFeet. Welcome! It's so cool that you found us and got the ADBB addiction straight away! That might take the place of the carb addiction to some extent... and a much healthier addiction it is!!

You'll find there's lots of support and friendship to be had around here... lots of friendly people looking to encourage others on their Atkins journey.

Scooter gave you some terrific advice and links. I'd also suggest you do the 20/24 challenge... a challenge that only lasts 20 mins in a single day is a great way to get the exercise ball rolling.

            Happy Atkineering!
