  • Hello :-)

Hi, everybody! My name is April, and today I've decided to begin my Atkins life (again). About 5 years ago, I lived the Atkins lifestyle for 2 years and lost 50 pounds and felt so healthy. Long story short, after years of osteoarthritis and a knee replacement, I've eaten my way back into the 190's (yikes!). I'm 41 - have one 12 year old adopted angel - have a health-nut, golf pro husband (who's never been overweight = sigh) - live in Texas - and work as a prosecutor (stressful). I would love to have some new email friends - we can support each other! Okay, enough about me... have a great day! April

                      Hi April,

I just had my last glass of champagne for awhile...and I'm more than OK with that. I also did Atkins - a few times - but never did it the right way, and certainly never a "clean" induction.

Let's newbies stick together! I'm convinced we can support each other all the way to our goals.

                      Yay!

                        Re: Hello

Good morning April, so lovely to have you here with us. Welcome to our little neck of the woods so to speak. Since you've done Atkins before, perhaps you might want to check out the Second Time Around Forum, it's pretty good and there are a lot of friendly folks there, (myself included) who have maybe steered the wrong direction and got off track. It is a fantastic motivational forum and I found it a lifesaver. It made me realize what I needed to change and how to re-focus!! Come on over and don't be a stranger!

I'd like to post a couple links for you, I found re-starting induction a little more difficult the second time, but the time flew by, and already back on OWL and doing great again with rung 1.

For recipes, nothing beats this site, http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html it is full of wonderful induction legal recipes. None of this bacon and eggs every morning stuff. Awesome wholesome delicious gourmet recipes...

I stopped counting carbs, and calories and proteins, thinking I could figure this out on my own in my head each day.....WRONG. A little of this wouldn't hurt, a cookie that, a chip here, then several weeks later, you guessed it....14 pounds out of 70 back on. Whew! I caught it in time, got myself re-generated and re-focused and back on track. I found that I have to count my daily intake of food, as it gives me a better idea of the direction I'm headed in. So, like most of these fine folks around here I use www.fitday.com. It's a free online service, and it comes with the ability to track your weight loss, line graphs, (I love to look at my yearly and see the graph go wayyyyyyy down, slight dip up, then kept on going down). I also loved to see my little weight icon move from 'OFF THE CHART OVERWEIGHT' to 'SEVERE OVERWEIGHT' to 'MODERATE OVERWEIGHT'. It's still moving, even after a year, but it's still moving and next....just a few pounds away, in definate reaching distance is....'HEALTHY WEIGHT'. I love those words, HEALTHY WEIGHT.....

Anyway, I'm happy to meet you, please keep us posted on your progress!
