    Hi Everyone,

I am so excited and nervous to be posting this. I have been struggling with my weight for about 10 years. It is just CRAZY. I am so sick of. I have six children. They are extremely active and I am exhausted trying to keep up with them.

I have tried many different plans with NO results. I am the first to admit I need something somewhat easy. I have major problems with willpower

I can't wait to get to know you all and hear your stories and advice. I hope I don't bug you all too much with questions.

I have decided to post my weight and eventually my measurements and this board, I have never down that before ..

I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend.

    Take Care,
    Shannon

Hi Shannon. Welcome!!! One thing you can always be sure of here is that everyone here completely understands the frustration of being overweight. When I first started, it took me a long time to admit I was 285 pounds. I was used to shaving off 5-10 pounds on my license and whenever I had to give my weight. (as if those 5 pounds I denied made a big difference). Definitely start a journal - either here or hard copy at home (I have both) and list your weight and measurements. It will help you track your journey and see how great you're doing. (Suggestion: take a before photo too, cause you'll definitely want one later on to see how far you've come)

You don't need a lot of willpower to do this program. Get active in the forums and make friends here. Communicating with others who understand and support you will make you want to succeed. One of the reasons that most of us didn't have success in other programs was because they don't have the fantastic support system that is offered here. We're all here for you. Post often, get involved and enjoy your new way of life. Best wishes!!

        Hiya Shannon and welcome!

Glad you decided to start Atkins and join the board. You'll find that everyone here is helpful and supportive. If you have trouble boosting your willpower, this is the place to come. Post often and you'll get lots of feedback. No one gets abandoned!

You've come just in time to join our one day (yes only one day!) boardwide 20/24 challenge, which is tomorrow (details on the portal page): All you have to do is commit to 20 mins of the exercise of your choice for the one day. Easy peasy and a good way to start up with some exercise, if you aren't already doing some... though with six kids you must be getting in lots of physical activity!!

        Happy losing!
        Before and after:

        PLEDGING FLIGHTS
Completed: 1st set of buildings and mountains (Everest,M.Blanc & Kilimanjaro, twice); Tower Masts & Chimneys; More virtual buildings; Challenger's Choice x 2 (volcanos and mountains on Mars). Currently climbing: Mount Snowdon again: 416/475

Thank you all for the welcome...I kind of messed up yesterday so I decided to make today my official start date. I am giving up carbs and acohol. I am going to start meeting with a support group this Thursday to help with the drinking. I tend to put everyone before me and then do very unhealthy things to myself. I am starting over today!!!!! I will be posting here often. I think I will start a journal on here, once I figure out where to do that That is a great idea, Thanks!!

              Re: New Mom of 6

I'm shirking on my duties.....I can't believe I missed you Shannon!! So sorry! My name is Scooter, I've been with this board for almost a year now, I absolutely love it, and I always tried to make sure to say hello to all the new folks, starting Atkins, and I guess I did it so much that asked me to host the Spotlight, sooooooooo.....the Spotlight is on you right now! We are so happy to have you here with us! Congrats to you on making the big step to get here. If you've been struggling with the weight for those years, I'm sure you've tried (as I did) all different types of diets, no-fat, lo-fat, mo-fat (okay...I made that last one up....haha), to no avail. 6 children....wow.....so....obviously you need to high kick your energy!! This is the plan for you!!

Willpower. Basically all you are giving up is flour and sugar. 2 little things. 2 little things that most people eat tons of every day!! My addiction is and was BREAD. I love the stuff. It doesn't love me. I makes me eat even more, and more and more....so...I steer way clear of it. You find substitutes, later on you can add some grains, when you get to those levels, but what's more important is Induction. Within a few days of induction you will start feeling better, it's very addictive, I love the way I feel now a days. When your willpower is edgy....come here and post! Talk to us! We'll help get you through the feeling.

Just the fact that you are willing to post your weight, and (soon) measurements, means to me that you are serious about changing your lifestyle. I applaud you! Way to go!

There are lots of stories and advice to be given here. Check out the before and after pictures, check out the recipes forums, so many places to go.

Please make sure you pick up a copy of Dr. Atkins book too, earlier today someone was talking about spending $400 on weight watchers, or Jenny Craig, well all you need to do here is find the book on Ebay, or Amazon, or your local library, and for a few dollars you have a membership for a lifetime. Pretty sweet!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, do not be a stranger, pop in on the boards and say hello! I look forward to hearing about your weight loss progress and journey all together. Like I said, don't worry about the willpower, your appetite will start changing soon.

Make sure you drink lots of water though, all day long, it is necessary!
              So.....don't be a stranger!!

              Best of wishes to you!!
