  • Hello everyone

Hello everyone. I am Yet another newbie.

I am not on Atkins diet yet, I still have to read the book. Every thing I have read sounds great. I have to say this site was one of my deciding factors to do the diet. I know I am going to have a wonderful support group here.

I am not going to get that so much from my husband. He told me the book was a waste of money then started to send me links two of them on how the diet does not work and it's bad for you. (mind you I had read them all ready). He said I am only going to stick with it for a few days week at the most. That made me think to my self I am going to Show youthat I can do this.

In then end I am not doing this cause of what he said I am doing this cause I need to lose 50 to 60 pounds. I want to get back to the way I used to look and feel. Also for once in my life get in to a Bikini.

I will let you all know when I start. I go my books off of Ebay so I am just waiting for them to get here. As For now I am cutting back on my carbs. I have found a lot of great Exercises I can do I home. I am walking the dog every day now for about a 30 min. I am going to start to walk 2 times a day. Once I start to lose about 10 to 20 pounds I will put up some pictures for you all.

Hope I didn't bore anyone with this.

    Have a good one

      Re: Hello everyone

Welcome! I hope you will enjoy this WOE (way of eating). It's the best way for me (don't look at my stats - I was doing very well and then let some personal crises get in my way - I'm back on track now cuz this is the only way for me). This plan isn't for everyone, but it's the best plan for me. Read the entire book when you get it so you'll understand how and why it works. Here in Canada Atkins was back in the news recently. Turns out this is a healthy way to lose weight after all and the doctors here are now saying they will offer it as an alternative to their patients who are overweight. Geez. Took long enough. Speaking of boring...where was I??.....oh yes, Welcome!!!!

I'm very sorry your husband isn't backing you up, but....this time you get to prove him wrong! You'll see when you go to some of the forums that they theads called sticky's, they are just helpful tidbits of information that members have created to help themselves and others....

                Re: Hello everyone

Hey Bobbi! Welcome to the board! You will certainly show your DH what's what after you start losing weight, and becoming healthy. It's great you've made the commitment to work on the Atkins WOL! This is for YOU, not him (except he'll reap the benefits when you're a skinny hottie!). Money spent buying the book will be the greatest investment you've ever made!

                  Re: Hello everyone

Welcome to ADBB Bobbi! Glad you found us here and glad the board was one deciding factor in your choice of weight loss plans.

Sounds like you're very motivated and excited to be starting. That's great!
I sympathise and empathise with you, not having the support of your husband. I too don't have any family support (where I live everyone is wayyyyy too focused on carbs to be supportive), but hey... I just ignore them... cook their carby food for them, and eat my own way regardless. Guess what? My hub is very envious of my losses (though he'd never admit it!!).

Don't worry... Atkins is a very healthy way of eating. At the end of the day you're only cutting out sugar, flour and processed foods... in exchange for lots of veggies and "real" foods. Nothing very unhealthy in that... and the numbers (cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure) usually bear that out. Just recently Atkins got some good press, which is a turn up for the books!!

I wish you every success with your journey to better health and a trimmer figure with Atkins!
