  • Hello Everyone

    Hi Everyone!

Our family is stationed in Europe and I'm so trying to shed this last 65 pounds. This is my second day of induction and so far all is well. I have plenty of walking space to exercise and if I can just get the hang of the induction process all will be great. I think I'm counting all my carbs correctly, I have only two books on Atkins (that's all the library had) and I'm trying to do everything with these two books for now. My B&N order usually takes 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to arrive here.

Anyway..just wanted to introduce myself and say Hello!

        Re: Hello Everyone

Congratulations Tammy! Thanks for picking us! This board has all sorts of helpful information, wow you're in Europe, where at? It never ceases to amaze how far apart everybody is, but yet, we always seem to get the best!!

It is so wonderful to meet you, is your entire family going to be doing the plan, or is it going to be just you in the household? Either way, it will be pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

If you want to track your weight loss, and log everything that you eat, I used to use microsoft excel to do all this, it was very time consuming, and then somebody said, try this program - www.fitday.com it's really simple to use and it has all kinds of little perks, oh yes...it's uh....FREE! FREE is always good. YOu just input your daily food and you see calories, fat, protein, carbs, and it's a very good tool to monitor all your taking in. The cool thing is, it has a journal also, you can keep it private, or share with other members so they can review your menu and tell you if everything your doing is considered 'legal' for induction. Thought you might like to try that.

Secondly, if you start popping around all the forums, you'll see that most of the folks utilize this little icon at the bottom of their screens, starting weight, ongoing loss, how many pounds to go till goal, or mini-goal....
you can find that at - www.tickerfactory.com

Third, I guess I suggest these three sites because I had so much success with all three, I'm kind of partial, anyway....for recipes - http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html it is fabulous!! Lots of tasty reasons to not be bored with what we eat.

Please jump around to all the forums, they have a private women's forum if you like that, they have recipes forums, restaurant forums, new 'low carb' products that people have tasted and tried, if you come across in 'international low carb recipes' please please post them!!! You will find all the folks here eager to help and assist. We're all here for the same reason, some people are just getting started, some have reached goal but still stay close to home, some us have strayed but yet returned (your humble host), and some people just need a shoulder to lean on sometimes....

I hope you find this information helpful, everybody looks forward to hearing about your success, if after you have read the books and aren't sure of certain things, don't be afraid to ask!

        Great to have you onboard!
        Scooter

Yes thats very normal (to feel like a slug at this early stage), but stick with it and in a weeks time you will be flying. You will have so much energy you will be amazed.

Good news on the 5.8 lbs.

                  Hi Tammy and welcome!

Feeling like a slug is normal the first few days on Atkins. Actually, though a nuisance, it's good news because it means your body is weaning itself off carbs. We call it induction flu. Usually it only lasts a few days and then suddenly, you'll wake up feeling brim full of energy.

                  Happy losing!

Where are you at in Europe? I am an American that has been living in Belgium for 9 years. Some things are easier(better quality meats, veggies, etc) but some things are a pain(cannot get splenda in Belgium and have to special order it!).

Did you read the stickies in all of the forums? I have DANDR but I have looked through the stickies and there is a lot of info! Wishing you the best!

                        Re: Hello Everyone

Hey There Maggie ....our family is stationed in Germany. It's wonderful here and the food is awesome. I get Splenda at the commissary (thankfully). The scale moved today and the "Atkins flu" has subsided. I'm feeling awesome and relearning how to eat. I had done Weight watchers and already lost 40 pounds so I just wanted to finish what I have started.

The boards are a wealth of awesome knowledge. I got some milled flax seed today and I'm going to try and figure out what to do with that and I'm making the cheesecake that ok to have during induction.

Tell me about Belgium? I'm dying to do some more traveling and I so what to see Belguim.

                        Talk to you soon!
