  • DAY 5/need guidance

    Hi Everyone....
    Well day 5 is almost over. I have done pretty well but I totally was eating avocados thinking they were okay on the diet. I assumed...but otherwise I have been pretty good. I have begun working out with a trainer have met with him twice....My keystones strip reads mostly moderate? What is the difference with the strip color in regards to the weight loss. I have weighed myself and haven't lost....
    I was expecting to lose atleast 1 lb or so but I know the body reacts on it's on. I am just happy that I am sticking with this which is not a common thing for me. I am dedicated but I am dying to see some change in the scale. The first time I did Atkins I did lose weight in the first week...
    What do you all think?

    Good Morning,

    Glad to hear you're determined. Watch those legal and non legal foods, they'll sneek up on you and get ya! I'm not sure how to answer the keytone strips, I've never used them at all, hopefully somebody else may have some answers, good way to go though, sticking with it! You're doing good!

      Hi Zin! Welcome to the board. The ketostix are a measure of fat burning, not weight loss. You could still be in the pink zone and not be losing weight, it tells you that you had rid your body of carbs. The darker the color, the more water you should drink because generally it means you could be dehydrated. The thing with the stix is that either you're in ketosis, or you're not. So if it's only light pink, you're good. If it doesn't change at all, not good!

        Also, 1/2 an avacado per day is okay on induction per the book. So, enjoy your avacado.

        Ketostix...if they change to any color you are good to go.

              I've been on atkins for just over two months (I gave myself 2 month and if I didn't see a change that was it...I was over it) and I did drop some weight, not as much as I thought but what I have noticed is I am eating better, I do have more energy, I am working out about 5x a week, I do feel better. I think this is a pretty good way to stay healthy...well besides the detoxing from flour and sugar!!

                Welcome Zinah. Glad you're feeling good on day 5 and getting comfortable with the program. Keep active here, keep doing the program and you'll definitely see great results. Have you taken your measurments? Best wishes!!

                  Try posting an entire day's menu in "review my menu" thread. The keys are not just what you ate but also how much. 1/2 an Avocado/day is AOK!


                  The strips are only a guide for some. Some people's bodies are so designed that all ketones are used up and never make it into urine. The strips will still be unchanged, even though they are in ketosis.

                  You can also affect color of strips if your urine does contain ketones by how concentrated/dilute your pee is.
