• H Everyone!

Just wanted to say HI and say that I am also on a second time around. Hopefully last!

I'm on day 8 of induction....I love meat but already I am finding it hard to figure out different ways of eating it. It's hard to keep at 1500 calories when eating mostly meat I find. However, I AM NOT giving up.

I have applied for a job that requires me NOT to be fat. It's bad enough I will be completing against younger people. I am a CBSA officer wannabe. My husand is a police officer here and he will be retiring and I will go and follow my goals!

Also I want to see me again when I look in the mirror. Mind you my husband is with me this time so it makes it a bit easier )

But he is losing faster than me and I just want toLOL
I have to say it is great looking at everyone's posts. Very informative and helpful!

    Re: H Everyone!

You really should start by reading a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (Aka DANDR at ADBB). Make sure it's the completely revised (2002) edition. Everything is there, including what you should be eating during the Induction phase; you can often find it at thrift shops if not at a local book seller.

Reading the "stickies" in the Induction forum will help you learn the ropes as well.

Welcome to the board. You will find plenty of advice and encouragement here to get you going!

You should be counting net carbs, not calories. You also should be getting only 30% of your day's caloric intake in the form of protein. 65% should be fat during induction, and the remaining 5% should come primarily from the 3 cups of veggies you choose from the Allowed Foods list. www.fitday.com can help with the carb totals, as well as %'s.

You might wish to post what you ate for a day in the "review my menu" thread, and see if your diet is out of kilter. Include your water and other drinks, supplements, quantities, and included ingredients/added condiments.

    Good luck!

        Re: H Everyone!

        Hi Lori1,

Welcome to the board, it so nice to have you here with us. I see that Susan gave you some information already. I thought this link might also interest you and your husband since you say you're running out of ideas, this is a virtual buffet of induction friendly recipes, the ones marked with (*) are induction friendly. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

Secondly, since you say this is your second time around, why not come on over to the Second Time Around Club (we loving refer to ourselves as STACer's) forum and say Hi. We try to do a daily post, reminding everybody to drink water, stay focused, talk about goals and such. We'd love to have you. It's really nice that your husband is doing this with you too. That always makes it easier. What is a CBSA Officer, what do you do?

Have you thought about goals you are wanting to accomplish, you should take a picture also, one now and another every 20 pounds or so, that way yu can post them in the before and after pics, it is a real motivator for new people to see the success of others. Also, remember just as Susan said, you're not really counting calories, your counting Net Carbs. You can also discuss this in the STAC forum, maybe talk about how you went off target, and see if anyone has suggestions to make sure that doesn't happen again this time. They are a great bunch of people over there. Don't be a stranger.

So, that being said, welcome to the board, congratulations on your 8 days so far!!! Excellent job!

                Thank you Sillygirl

Oh I forgot to answer the other question earlier about CBSA "Canadian Border Services Agency"

It's a Border Patrol Officer. There is 13 weeks of very intensive training where you have to memorize massive amounts of information...hopefully I'll be up to it. At any rate if I don't make it ...at least the thought of I only have a couple of months to get a fair bit of weight off before my interview that is helping me get past my cravings.
