  • Hi!!!!!!!! First Day of Induction

Hi!!!!!!!! Today is my first day of induction. So far it has been a pretty good day. I felt weird this morning mostly because i had breakfast and i hardly ever have breakfast.

Here is what i had today

    sausage with peppers
    scrambled egg
    2 chicken breasts
    1 deviled egg
    bacon cheesburger (no bun)
    lettuce
    canola oil
    vinegar
    salt and pepper
    chicken breast
    sour cream

I dont feel hungry at all. This site has so many good ideas. Thanks a lot! Oh and i went for a walk today. I'm kind of proud of that since i could have taken the train instead of walking. I'm looking forward to getting to know people on the board.

    Hello Mesa23,

Welcome to the board. Well, first things first, congratulations for on your first day of induction. Do you own the 'Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002' edition (you'll see it referred to as DANDR around these parts)? If not, do not just go by what you read on the site, if you are serious about the weight loss, then you will need this to fully understand the plan being layed out for your success!

Secondly, your menu doesn't look too bad, possibly a little overboard on meat, however I'm not sure what size portions you were eating. I only see lettuce...you need to eat 2 cups of salad vegetables and 1 cup of acceptable veggies each day. You also need to drink plenty of water.

Could you provide us with a little more information, how much weight are you trying to lose, etc.

Hey good job walking instead of taking the train!!! Excellent job!!

As I said, we would all love to assist you, just give us a little more info, I look forward to hearing more!! If we don't hear from you today...good luck on Day 2!!! Excellent!!

Re: Hi!!!!!!!! First Day of Induction

Yes, I do own the book. I've been reading it for a few days now. I kept it in the kitchen all day. I had to constantly refer back to it in order to see if i was eating the right things. At first i was thinking, "You have had way too much chicken today." , but the book said it was ok. I made some mashed cauliflower for dinner with turkey chops. I could have done better with drinking water today. I'll do better tomorrow. I'm going to the grocery store in a few minutes with the book and my list in hand. I wanted to try to make these turkey muffins for tomorrow but i realized that all the cheese in my house is reduced fat. I was surpised today when i used canola oil, vinegar and salt and pepper instead of dressing. It tasted just as good as the kind that you buy from the store, probably even better. It really helped me to eat lettuce today. Oh and I'm walking to the store and back . I just realized that will be two walks today. Thanks a lot for responding, it really helps me feel like im not alone.

Here is info that i should have put before
            I'm 21 F from New Jersey
            I'm 280lbs
I want to lose 130lbs (it's a lot but not impossible)

The chicken breasts that i had today were thin sliced actually not whole or the thick ones. I like the thin sliced better. They cook quickly on my George Foreman grill. Oh and it was 2 cups of lettuce. i measured it with a measuring cup. I wanted to put tomato. I know its allowed but i didnt want to overdo it. I had the peppers this morning and the celery with sour cream for a snack and the mashed cauliflower. Is that enough? I know i didnt drink enough water.

I'm back from the store. I stuck to my list and im proud of myself. There are so many temptations in the grocery store. I bought water, cream cheese, cheddar cheese and heavy cream. One question though, is sugar-free jello all right during induction? I keep hearing different things.

                Welcome to !

All the sugar-free jello I've ever seen is made with Aspartame, which should be avoided as it can easily stall weight loss. There may be other brand names out there that are sweetened with Splenda or something along that lines, but I know Jell-O brand is made with Aspartame.

Best of luck on your weight loss journey and if you need anything just give a shout!

Hiya Mesa and welcome to ADBB! Glad you've joined up with us here.

Can you get plain gelatin where you are (I'm sure you must be able to)? Here in Italy we have transparent sheets of gelatin called "colla di pesce" which means fish glue (sounds horrid... and not sure if it really is fish glue or not)... anyway... it looks like a sheet of glass. You disolve it in warm water, add whatever you like (splenda, Da Vinci syrups, fruit if in OWL... etc.) and then cool. Easy peasy and makes great jelly (jello to Americans).
                    I love it with cream.

                    Happy losing!

                      Mesa,

You can always use KNOX brand gelatin, and do just as Sally suggested, add splenda and or DaVinci (SF) syrups.

Welcome to the board, Mesa. Sounds like you're determined and I know you're going to be successful!

And that's a great idea about the gelatin, you guys. DaVinci has some really good flavors - I never thought of making my own jello. Hmmmmm.... might have to try that.

Re: Hi!!!!!!!! First Day of Induction

Thanks for the info. I will look for plain gelatin when I go shopping again. Today is my second day of induction. I had a mock danish and turkey bacon breakfast this morning. I also had water . I went for a walk for 30 minutes afterwards. For lunch, I'm thinking about 2 boneless chicken thighs with 1/2 cup of peppers, cooked in canola oil and a cheese stick. Right now my main focus is just keeping the carbs under 20grams, which can be tricky sometimes. For instance, I bought cheese sticks from the grocery store last night. On the package, it says 0 carbs but in the carb gram counter it says 0.6 grams. So, I'm making sure to count the carbs in the cheese.

                          Thanks everyone!!!!!!!
