hi everyone!!! my name is miss ree. i am 27 years old. i started atkins on march 12, 2007. i have tried everything out there to lose weight. i would lose 10 pounds and plateau, or i would lose 10 pounds and gain back 15. i believe that i am finally ready to accept that there is no "magic pill". my boyfriend had great success on atkins, which has motivated me to try it. i have finally come to the realization that in order to lose weight i must make a lifestyle change. i feel that atkins has the science, and the success record, that will help me achieve my goal. i welcome any and all support i have been surfing the website and have found it to be very informational and motivating. i can't wait to start seeing results!!

Hi there Miss ree! It is nice to meet you! A good place to start here is to check out some peoples journals to get to know some folks, that is in the journals forum. And go to the womens forum for any girlie advice that will help you on your weigh loss journey. The people here are very nice and all of the folks I have met are very supportive. If you have any questions feel free to ask, and almost always someone has an answer. If you haven't done so already, read Dr. Atkins book, titled Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, and follow his guidelines for sure fire weight loss success!
Happy low carbing, and I hope to see you around!

Re: hi there!! i'm new!!
Welcome! I'm glad you see this as a lifestyle change instead of just a "diet". That's a great step. Just a note on plateaus.. you might plateau on this plan too. Many do, but the key is to push through it! Make sure you're doing everything right and haven't added a food that is causing problems. If it's all good, then just keep doing what you're doing and wait.
Much success...~Brandi

Re: hi there!! i'm new!!
Miss Ree!!! Excellent post!!! It is really wonderful to meet you!!! I love your outlook, I too have battled with weight all my life, always losing 10 pounds gaining 20, the constant internal battle so to speak. This I found this way of life, and except for a little slip, I've been doing it for a year, and I've lost 70 pounds! Congrats to your boyfriend for losing his weight on Atkins! I love how you mention 'Lifestyle' and not 'Diet' (Diet is such a foul word). Anyway...kudo's for your post.
Now, lets see if ol' Scooter here can give you some helpful tools to help you along on your journey....
1) Make sure you have a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 Edition (we refer to it as DANDR around here) and make sure you read it. The whole book! Front to back. Skimming through it can set yourself up for some issues later, Dr Atkins lays out the 'blueprint' so to speak of this plan and way of eating (WOE).
2) Check out this site www.fitday.com that way you can log everything that you eat, and monitor weight loss, fluxuation, etc. I used to use Excel and it was taking so much time, and someone suggested Fitday....wow! I've been using it almost as long as I've been on the plan. You can track carbs, calories, fat percentages, etc. Oh yes...it is FREE!! It's so hard to believe that something out there on-line that is so worth it's weight in gold is FREE.
3) You'll notice a lot of members have this little icon at the bottom of their posts, a little strip showing starting weight, and current weight and or goal weight, go to www.tickerfactory.com and that set yourself up! Let us know if you need help!
4) I hear so many people say, oh dear, I get so tired of eggs, bacon for breakfast, or steak and salad for lunch. Then they give up due to boredom.
Myself, I love to cook. I LOVE to cook. I love to create in the kitchen. I mean, lets face it, we aren't the way we are because we're starving right??
. So try this site http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html for some awesome recipes and further information that might assist you.
I hope you find some of that information helpful. Once again, it sounds like you have the right 'mindset' to push forward and make this successful. Stay away from the Dark Side, and come into the light with all your fellow Atkineers!! Woo Hoo!!
Have a wonderful weekend, oh yes, and try to figure out a little exercise regiment, you don't have to go out and join any expensive health club, start out with a few exercise every morning, maybe a walk at night, or afternoon, just start a little something...and you will be happy with your results.
Honestly, I basically walked, drank lots of water, and followed the plan to the T and lost about 20 pounds just on induction. I probably would have lost more than 70 pounds right now, but I haven't kept the exercise up like I should. I want to shed those last 27 pounds, so to quote Emeril....I'm kickin' it up to notches unknown....BAM!!
Remember drink at least 100oz or more (preferrably more - your body will get used to it!!) every day. That is absolutely mandatory. Water and your 3 cups of Veggies!!!
Thanks for the wonderful post Miss Ree....we look forward to hearing great things from you!! Can't wait to see your first post, Week One, I've lost 5 pounds!! WOO HOO!!

Hi Miss Ree! Welcome to ADBB! I'm impressed that you already understand the "science" behind this way of eating (WOE).
There is a women's forum that might interest you. Please PM richt or lauren who can give you access to the forum.
