  • I'm new to this foruum been on induction now for 7 weeks.

I am MIchelle and a new Adkins fan, I am 34 years old and started off at 183 lbs the first week of February 2007, Doctors told me I was borderline diabetic, been living with high blood pressure for about 5 years,(hate taking medication) and too tired and hungry all the time to do anything/when the doctors informed me about the diabetes and when I stepped on the scale and topped off at 183 I got ANGRY, started Adkins and bought the book and also found alot of good information at the Adkins website. I admit I do have a problem with the scales, I check everyday did get upset a couple of times but determination has helped.
As of today I have dropped 22 lbs and feel 100% better, have a goal for 120-125 any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated or any one to talk to about this exciting experience.

    Hi Michelle,

Congrats on your loss! That is very good.

Has it been hard to stick with Induction for that long? I'm on my fifth day and because I would like to lose 55 lbs or so, I imagine I'll have to stick with Induction for a while.

    Any tips?

Hi Michele, congrats on losing 22 pounds! That's fantastic!

You've read the book, which is the first step to success! Are you drinking your water? Are you exercising? There are many great exercise challenges on the board to challenge you and help you stay motivated.

Have you read the chapters on OWL yet? Re-read them if you have! It sounds like you're 40 pounds from your goal, and I'd suggest moving to Rung 1 of OWL. THat's just another serving of induction veggies. Don't be worried about eating more carbs--most members find they get a kickstart to their weightloss again after starting OWL.

Keep posting, and congrats on the 22 pounds!

22 pounds is terrific! It's also great you've read the book. Your doctor will be impressed with you at your next visit!

I am almost done with my 1st week of a very strict induction. My husband is doing this diet too, so it helps cause he has been down the road before and has a lot of good food "creations" . Im a scale checker too, I know I shouldnt but I cant help it. I also am addicted to the ketostix. Hey but its better than being addicted to carbs right?!?
Congrats on the weight loss, hang in there...summer is coming up!

Is there a new diet out? I haven't heard of the Adkins diet. I will certainly have to look into it.
