  • Hello Everyone

I have been reading this board for like a couple of years now. Started Atkins 2 years ago, got down to 148 which my starting weight was 206. Had to have surgery 3 times and went off of Atkins. Then i started up 3 months ago and have made it from 250 to 225 so far. Have to have another surgery in about 9 days. This time i am not giving up. I am sticking to it.

    Re: Hello Everyone

Hi Tracy. Welcome back and congratulations on the weight you've lost so far. Its smart to make plans before your surgery how not to gain. In the hospital, they will ask you if you have any preferences for food. I listed the foods I did not want them to serve me such as gravy, corn, potatoes... and requested sugar-free jello for my dessert instead of pudding or cake. They were very good about giving me foods that I wanted and if something showed up on my tray that I didn't want (such as rolls) ~ I just didn't eat it.

Before my surgery...I cooked some meals and froze them in containers. When I came home from the hospital...they only had to be microwaved (like tv dinners). This worked great and I didn't gain any weight.

Best wishes, hope your surgery goes well. Keep us posted!

Hi Tracy! Glad you are here! Stick with us. I hope your surgery goes ok! Don't let the thought of it slow you down. I recently had knee surgery and was worried about not being able to exercise and that I would gain. I actually lost 12 pounds throughout the ordeal even though my exercise was "nill" for a few weeks and them modified as I healed. I was able to do that because I was extremely strict about my food choices because I knew there was no way to exercise. So....plan and be methodical about what you eat! 2 Bigs advice was right on. The sad thing about it is that after my surgery success, I got cocky about my ability to fly through it without a gain, that when I was able to exercise again, I got sloppy with my eating and gained back the 12 pounds I lost. Be careful! Just know you can do this! C-ya back here soon!

Thanks for the advice and for caring. I could kick myself in the butt for not staying on it the first time. Heck the first time i was on Atkins the weight came off like butter. Now its taking its sweet time. But thats ok as long as it comes off again and stays off this time for good. It took me so long to post because im not good with words.

So very glad you're still here and posting... and, that you're still doing well with Atkins is awesome, what with having had an operation to contend with.

                        Re: Hello Everyone

I went in for a repair last monday at 7:30 in the morning. Because like almost nine months ago i had a hystorectomy and they took out my cervix also. Well i hurt for almost 9 months becuase i didn't heal right. So he went in through my belly button to look around said he seen nothing in there. So he went in through my u know and cutt out the scare tissue. Said everything looked fine when he was done. Was took back up to same day surgery area. And started having like pressure pain in my pubic area. I thought it was the packing that they put in me. So i asked the nurse if she could take it out. She called the doctor and he said to go ahead. When she pulled it out she did it really fast and hurt me worse. Like 10 to 15 minutes after that i started having really bad cramps and they just got worse, heck i felt like i was in labor again. Blood started comming out of me that was around noon when that all started. So they admitted me. My doctor was doing other surgerys and so he didn't get to me till like 5:30 pm. So he went back inside me and said somehow my body had formed a pool of blood vessels and on top of them was a big blood clot. When he removed the blood clot then 3 of the blood vessels was pumping out blood. So he fixed them. Heck he said i lost 1,000 ccs of blood during surgery. So they had to give me two things of blood back. I sure hope i dont ever have to back the hospital ever again.
