  • Ashley, I'm New!

    Good evening everyone!

My name is Ashley, I'm 21 and a Senior in College! I recently took a trip to Mexico and decided after looking at myself in a bikini it was time to get motivated.

I followed Atkins during high school when I was a competitive synchro skater and it worked well, however; I eventually gave up and have gained weight and lost weight over the past four years of college.

Right now, I'm the "healthiest" I have been in four years, however; I realize that I need to be healthier and I would like to lose 10-20 pounds.

I am obsessed with fitness, and I love working out already. I usually do 60-70 minutes of cardio- just to avoid gaining weight! I know in the real world, this is not really a likely possibility and I need to get control of my horrible eating habits.

I look forward to hearing back from some of you and I also anticipate being motivated and inspired by people daily on this board!

My biggest problems already that I can identify will be my obsession with diet soda, seriously like 8 cans a day- MINIMUM! and as a college student, i drink and party. I know induction is strictly no alcohol, but unfortunately, i doubt i will be alcohol free every weekend because this will be my last few months of this lifestyle!

I plan on drinking bacardi and diet coke, and welcome any advice! Thanks in advance Have a wonderful sunday evening!

Hi Ashley and welcome to ADBB! Hope you find lots of support and inspiration here.

Sounds like you're really on track with the exercise which is great. It's sooooo important to this way of life.

Re the alcohol... well, as with everything it's a personal choice, though I'm sure most here (me included) would urge you to try to follow the plan as it was intended to be followed.
Alcohol "pauses" your weight loss because the body uses it as fuel before anything else, so it's wise to keep away from it, or at least keep it to the very minimum you can.

Keep us posted. We're all rooting for ya!

      Welcome to and Atkins Ashley!

I can't agree more with what's been said about alcohol...to be successful on Atkins it's of paramount importance that the plan is followed. Planning to cheat is just as good as planning to fail...after all, is it not about changing ones lifestyle because what we were doing previously was clearly not working for us?

I wholeheartedly want to see you succeed! So toss that alcohol bottle and get ready for a whole new you!

Best of luck and if you need anything just give a shout!

Hi Ashley! Welcome to the board. Stay on track and eventually, when you move up the rungs, you will be able to have alcohol! If you can't wait till then, drink it straight, like Vodka on the rocks, zero carbs (still alcohol though)!
