    Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My name is Kristi and I am attempting for the hundreth time (lol..j/j, but it feels like it) to lose weight. I was living the Atkins WOL a few years ago and lost about 80 pounds and felt like I was on top of the world. Then I had an appendicitis attack and at the same time they found a cyst on my ovary so in the length of about 2 months I had surgery twice, which limited my exercise and my way of eating totally went down the tubes. I have gained back the 80 plus some, but am determined this time around to stick to it. One of my reasons for wanting to do this is for my health, but another reason is that we are hoping to start a family soon and I would like to be at a healthy place in my life and be able to make sure that my kids grow up with a healthy lifestyle and not have to struggle with weight in their lifetime. Atkins is the ONLY thing that has EVER worked for me in my weight loss struggles. I LOVE meat, fish, boiled seafood (crawfish, crabs & shrimp) and most veggies. I went to the store this weekend and loaded up on stuff to have handy. I even bought a new veggie that I had seen talked about on here (Jicama) and can't wait to see how I like it. I haven't yet decided on how to eat it yet, but I will definately keep looking around for ideas. I also joined a gym a while back, but have been having trouble getting myself there. I love to go in the morning and get the endorphine boost for the day and have the satisfaction of knowing at the end of the day I have done it already and anything I do in the afternoon is extra. I will get back into the swing of it. I have been looking around the boards and realize this is a great place to be for ideas and encouragement. Hope I didn't take up too much time and hope to hear from some of ya'll soon.

    Welcome back! We're happy to have you with us again. You know, you did this once, you can do it again. My name is Scooter, I have been given the quest of welcoming and directing traffic in and out of the Spotlight.....(lightly touch your shoulder.....bingo....Your In The Spotlight!)

    Woo Hoo! I love the goals and preparation that you've set up!! Most awesome. As far as (Jicama) you'll find lots of folks here that love the stuff. If you see a young lady named (Joy - Validrougue) ask her about it! I think she's kind of got the corner on things to do with Jicama!!

    Anyway.....here's a couple of links to help you.... www.fitday.com for counting carbs, calories, protein, exercise, loss, etc. Its a great little on line program and it's free! Free is good!

    http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html basically all you'll need (exaggerating a bit...haha) for recipes....you'll never be bored with the endless supply of recipes here....I just made her Apple/Marinated Chicken...(Apple Cider Vinegar/Water/Onion/Soy Sauce/Splenda) absolutely delicious!

    Since you're trying to get an exercise regime going, we have a new challenge pushing forward http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=41903 give it a shot, or even check out that forum!

    You'll find all kinds of places to hang around here. Recipes, Health, 14 Day Induction, Chit Chat, Private Women's Forum, Private Men's Forums, and might I also suggest, since you've been around the bend a bit, the Second Time Around Forum (my buddies...STACer's love em all) for those of us who have slipped and need to re-focus. Come on over, we'll leave the door open.

    Make sure you check out all the sticky's in each forum, they contain lots of helpful info by members who've had success with this plan!!!

      Sounds like you're really motivated to doing Atkins and have prepared your store cupboard, so to speak... oh, and it's cool that you're a member of a gym too.

      I bet that soon we'll be reading of your successes. And success is what I wish for you.

        Thanks Scooterjam & Sallyseachange for the warm welcome. I have set up an account with fitday to keep track of my fats, protiens and carbs, hopefully having to log these things in everyday will keep me on track also. Also can anyone remind me of what the percentages are of each that I should be trying to get. When I plugged in my menu from yesterday my calories were way up and the fat percentage seemed kind of high. Well here goes day 2!!

          Hi Kristi! Welcome back to Atkins and this board! Sorry you've been through the ringer. Come around often so we can see your progress.

          You might want to join in the Women's forum, which is a nice place to visit and discuss womanly issues! You can PM richt or lauren to get access to it!
