  • Here I am....

Hi to everyone........This is my second time around on this WOL. I lost 73 pounds in 2001 and slowly gained all of it back, plus another 20 pounds or so. I am tired of being tired and am ready to gain back the control that I lost, or mis-placed somewhere. My scale says I weigh 213, while the one at the gym says 233. While I would like to believe the one at home, but I do believe that the other one is more accurate. I am the proud Mom of 5 children who range in age from 9 1/2 months to 14. 4 of them play soccer - hence the name Soccer Mom- and 3 play for the same club. Needless to say, we are busy. I have been happily married for 15 1/2 years to the most wonderful man in the world! We both have gained so much weight in the past few years and need to slim down and change our way of living. He is just eating low-fat and exercising, while I am going to what I know works, Atkins WOL, and exercising. I am excited to change my life and take back control. So that's me in a nutshell. I am excited to get to know you and look forward to going on the journey of losing the weight that is holding me back from being the person that I know I am!!

Welcome back to the WoL and welcome to the board! Have you joined an exercise challenge yet? No doubt that this is *definitely* better than low-fat... I'm sure you'll succeed and find your control and energy all over again along the way.

There's an exercise challenge thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=51 where you can sign up to participate in the challenges.

The Bikini Challenge is you commit to do 400 crunches, and 3 hours of cardio a week, weigh yourself once a week and take measurements once every 5 weeks, it lasts for I think another 16 weeks but you can still sign up.

The vidiot's challenge is (I believe) you say how many exercise videos you're going to do for the month, and then work towards reaching that goal.

Mileage challenge is you sign up for how many miles (bike, running/treadmill, elliptical, stairmaster, etc) that you're going to do for the month, then work towards that.

Abs challenge - You sign up for how many crunches/sit-ups you're going to do for the month then work towards that.

Stability Ball one I'm not really sure about, I think it's at least 5 minutes a day on the stability ball (I'm sure Jimmie will be around to explain it better)

Calories Burnt - You choose a calorie goal to work towards burning for the month.

I'm not sure about the Double Chin Challenge...

The ADBB Pres Challenge is done through the Presidental Challenge website - you work towards achieving medals based on how many minutes/hours of exercise you do and you can get bronze, silver, gold, etc. medals and things...

Sorry, I missed the pledging flights - you virtually climb buildings and then mountains on a stairclimber and you go through different buildings first and the number of flights in each of those, and then move outside to the mountains and climb those.

Warm welcome SoccerMom! Glad you decided to join us here at ADBB. You'll find it an cool place if you want motivation and inspiration.

It's great news that you're interested in the exercise challenges. Lyssie gave you good advice. My personal fav is the Pledging Flights Challenge. You don't necessarily need a stairclimber to do this... you can just count the flights you do during your normal day. Believe me, after a while it becomes totally addictive and lifts (elevators to Americans) become a thing of the past!

Ask any questions you might have... we're happy to help out where we can.
            Happy low carbing!
            Before and after:

            PLEDGING FLIGHTS
Completed: 1st set of buildings and mountains (Everest,M.Blanc & Kilimanjaro, twice); Tower Masts & Chimneys; More virtual buildings; Challenger's Choice x 2 (volcanos and mountains on Mars). Currently climbing: Mount Snowdon again: 416/475

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.
