Thought I would post a Re: Intro since I did join a good while ago and have been off the Atkins track for about a year and a half and 40 some lbs later. ugh
My name is Melissa and I live in West Michigan with my husband of 13 yrs and our 4 kids. I started on the WL journey in 2003 and weighed 246lbs. Did WW's and Curves combo and got down to 220lbs. I decided to give Atkins a try in 2005 and got down to 169lbs....51 lbs lost and only 14 lbs from my goal. Then I got cocky and stopped doing it strictly...then the holidays hit and I had a partial Hysterectomy and had to recover and then I tried to get back into Induction in Jan. 2006 and my body and mind were not receptive this time around. So I went back to WW's in the Spring and managed to lose 10 lbs after having a 20 lb regain from my WL Hiatus.
Then Life happened some more and I had a health crisis (The word cancer was uttered and tests and exploratory surgery and lots of binge/emotional eating) I got thru the crisis and nothing was found and definately no cancer but I found myself after the holidays with an additional 20 lbs packed on. I again went back to WW's for about 2 wks and lost 5 lbs and I gave up.
What was my ephinany moment to make me come back to Atkins?
I sat on the bed and bent over to put my socks on and I looked down to see the roll of fat from my lower abdomen.
What the heck was I doing?
Last Sunday I had a heart to heart with my mom, who was my Atkins partner before and when I stopped she fell off...and we were both lost tons of weight together and I told her that we needed to stop screwing around with our health. We both felt the best on Atkins and we both felt the most empowered and in control. We went shopping that day and shared the food from Sams Club and 7 days later I can happily say its been a breeze this time. I am down 7.4 lbs and she is down 4 or 5lbs now.
So here I am...humbly starting over. I was a success story and it only proves to show that eating right is a lifetime thing and not to be forgotten when you think you have it by the tail.
I look forward to sharing and losing with my fellow Atkin buddies.
