  • Another guy who thought he'd never be on the Atkins!

    HI there!

My name is Nicolas, and my wife and I have been on our induction period since March 19, 2007, 8 days today, although we did try to start on the 18th but realized we were not doing it right.

Before that we tried a lot of different diets (we even went veggie) and because I also do weight training and cardio, I was aware of the crazy "cutting diets" that the body builders put themselves through before their competitions, but I wanted to try something less crazy and less homemade, and a with a bit more medical reasoning behind.

When I told my wife I was going to go Atkins, she decided to jump in and we've both lost quite a few pounds and we're surprised by the progress so far.

I don't know if it is cutting the fat producing carbs and sugar, portion control, or the logic behind the Atkins diet, but so far it is working and I have been able to concentrate at work and on my commute, work out, and family function. Wifey binged a couple times on carbs (her downfall) and myself on caffeine (my downfall), but we try it hard and we may simply push the induction period by a couple weeks.

        Welcome Nick and Mrs. Nick

I'm glad that you both are having success so far, and I hope it continues to goal.
I'm Juli and this is Day 6 for me now that it's past midnight. I agree with you--the medical reasoning behind this WOL totally makes sense. And I'm not interested in some crazy fad diet...I want something I can live with and commit to forever.

I look forward to hear more about your success.

              Hi Nicolas,

Great to have you here. It seems to me that you have the same intention as I have – finding a smart and logical way to weight control. Plus to be able to handle eating in a way that makes it easy and gets you of the good times, bad times rollercoster.

Actually I don’t feel any cravings for sweets, soda pizza or something, but on the other hand I wasn’t eating that much of it anyway…

Nevertheless I am having a tough time right now and it is great to have all the folks helping each other. This must be the American spirit everybody is talking about I guess!

Obviously you workout regularly and I would love to stay in contact as I am exercising a lot myself. What are you doing exactly?

              Welcome to both of you!
