Hello all! I just wanted to make a quick intro of myself. My name is Matt....I am 29 years old. I am new to the Atkins board, but not to the diet. A few years ago, I did very well and lost 40lbs. I have since regained the weight, and have decided to go with the Atkins WOL to lose the weight and keep it off. I think this board will be very helpful for me. I also intend to post some before photos just as soon as I figure out how! lol Look forwrad to meeting everyone!

Re: New Guy here
Hey all....thanks for the great welcomes and all that. I am definitely feeling the love and support that you guys have for each other. To answer Sunggles' question....the first time around, it took me two months to lose the 40lbs. I think part of that rapid weight loss was due to my sticking with the induction phase the entire time. That is my plan again this time, at least for as long as I can tolerate it. My goal this time around is to lose about 100lbs or so. I am starting at 305, and would like to get to 200 or below. When my body feels and looks good to me, thats when I'll know I'm done. I have one question for anyone.....I am the kind of guy who enjoys snack type food, and I'm looking for something to replace the "potato chip" enjoyment I have....does anyone have suggestions, other than pork rinds? I enjoy those, too, but cant eat them all the time and can't always find them.

Re: New Guy here
Salt was my addiction also. Chips, pretzels, nuts, popcorn...you name it. What helped me was to make cheese chips and pepperoni chips. (on wax paper....shred cheese and nuke it till crisp around the edges, let cool and voila...a cheesy chip. You can dip it or just eat as is.) (put pepperoni slices on wax paper, nuke till starts to curl up, cool down and eat). Hope this helps, it did for me. You can also use jicama and slice and fry them for chip-like substitute, but that never really appealed to me. I like the cheese and pepperoni better.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: New Guy here
I make a low carb snack mix....
cut up bite size pieces of celery and jicama, get those bags (or cut up cheese) into small bite size cubes of cheese--i like the pepperjack. and get some thick slices of pepperoni or the summer sausage sticks and cube those up into bite size pieces.
I put it all in a baggie or bowl
If you've never had jicama, definitely give it a try. I totally love the stuff.
Lyssie....before you EVEN get started, just shut up LOL
