  • hello everyone

I am a 43 year old Texas male and I have decided to take control of my eating habits and get back into shape. I have been in Law Enforcement for 23 years and the usual menu's for lunch have taken their toll. I am a competative action pistol shooter and my speed and movement both suffered at a big match this weekend. I love the sport and was recently picked up by a custom gun builder as a sponsered shooter. I was in really good shape until getting married to my beautiful wife a couple of years ago. Since getting hitched I have gained about 40 lbs due to my content happiness. I did the atkins diet without really sticking to the rules or measuring veggies during induction a couple of years ago and lost 20 pounds in a month. The diet worked for me even when I was not strict about following the rules, so I am diving in with full commitment this time. I set up a fitday account and I have been logging all my foods since starting on monday. One of my other passions and hobbies is cooking so I will be experimenting and contributing to the recepie portion of the forums. I look forward to talking to all of you and learning more as I read.

            Re: hello everyone

Hello Dave, please don't shoot me! lol. Sorry couldn't resist.

Yeah man, I know that getting married, happy content feeling. One day you weigh your perfect weight, then next thing you know, 295 pounds!! YIkes.
Well, I discovered this way of eating and I absolutely love it! I've lost 73 pounds eating this way, and still losing! Life is wonderful. And, my beautiful wife has not complained one bit!!

It's funny, I remember a young lady hanging out with some of us after work one day at a local club. She made the comment that she had never seen so many happily married guys. I thought that was a weird thing to say, especially to a room of strangers. I said how do you know we're all happily married. She smiled and said, you're all fat, you feel comfortable at home, you don't need to try as hard.

ouch. Well, I've proved her wrong haha! Your story made me think of that.

Anyway, welcome to the board, you might want to hang out in the Second time Around Club (STACer's we call ourselves) and we have a daily roll call, where we discuss life, living, goals, exercise, friends, heck who knows...maybe winning the next gun competition...(sweet segway there huh!! You know you can picture it!!!)
