  • Hi

    Hello,
I started the Induction Phase on Monday, 3/19. It has had its ups and downs, but I've pretty much stuck with it. I'm really excited to get past this stage, and start trying other recipes.
My question though is this: what are net carbs? How is that different from regular carbs? I have been trying to stay under 20 carbs (following the allowed foods) and then I came across recipes that said were allowed on the induction phase, but they have more carbs than I figured. Can someone explain? BTW-I think I'm down 7-9 lbs now. I'm excited about it, but I just hope I don't blow it!
    Thanks,
    Michele

    Hiya Michele

Net carbs are the total number of carbs minus grams of fiber and sugar alcohals...it's all outlined in Dr. A's book the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution

    Nice to meet you

Michele - Welcome. So happy with the success you are having. It only gets better. As you progress into the rungs, you'll find lots more options to keep you satisfied. Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress!

Net Carbs: This is total carbohydrates less fiber, glycerine, the sugar alcohols. (For instance if you have a food that is 5 grams of carbs and 2 grams of fiber...then you count it as 3 net grams of carbs.)
      Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F
