                Re: return after looong brake

thank you everybody! I feel the support already! My weakness is not getting enough veggies in the diet. I will mostly lean towards lunch meats, eggs, cheese and those sort of things. I will try my best to eat those greens. Also, im drinking the shakes, strawbery ones are my favorite im eating the breakfast bars and taking supplements( fish oil, cla, basic 3 and fiber chewables) I have to improve on the exersice part because i do not feel so active. Im a full time student, but since springbreak is starting today, i will start the sweat up! Well, nice to meet you all and i will defenetly keep intouch!

Hey bud, Breakfast Bars and Shakes.....not good!! Frankenfoods!! They are only to be used as a last resort. There are lots of things in the breakfast bars, or Atkins bars that are not induction friendly.

Also, the 3 cups of veggies, non negotiable. Remember these links, they are the blueprint for what you are trying to accomplish!

Variation = no success Follow The Plan = Success.

Remember, you can have excuses or results, not both!!

                    Study up on these bud.....seriously!

                      Re: return after looong brake

Ditto on those shakes and bars. Besides stalling many people, they cause MAJOR cravings! It's like eating a glorified candy bar. They are made with sugar alcohols like malitol, which supposedly do not affect blood sugar. If they're not causing a laxative effect, your body is most likely absorbing/processing ALL of the carbs, not just the "net" ones. So even if a bar is marked 3g effective carbs and you're feeling no laxative effects, you'd better count ALL of them (minus the fiber).

Stick with whole, unprocessed foods! You'll feel better and save a ton of money (those bars and shakes are EXPENSIVE!) You don't have to eat eggs for breakfast, you can eat anything you like off of the induction menu. Check out the links scooter gave you--Linda's site has AWESOME recipes!

Glad you've joined ADBB, if you have questions, don't be afraid to post them!

Hey Oly! Welcome to the board. Have you read the DANDR book? If not, I would suggest you pick one up. Just ignore the part where it talks about the shakes and bars! if you like you can read up on sugar alcohols and counting net carbs with that. Regarding the bars and shakes, if they say 18 carbs with 2 net carbs, you are really eating the whole 18 carbs. It's much better to stick to whole, fresh foods.

Veggies are really important. As you climb up the "rungs" more veggies is in your future, so I hope you can find some that you like! Check out some of the low carb recipe sites, you will be amazed at how many ways you can disguise veggies into something really yummy.
