  • Introducing Myself!

    Hey everyone!

This is my second time doing this WOE...my first time doing it wholeheartedly. Everytime I start to diet, I get pregnant again...LOL! I have three children under the age of 5. I am a preschool teacher and a full-time student. I have a heavy load and I think that if I can lose this weight, I would be able to deal with it a lot better. I have been noticing a lot of changes in me lately. I am having a problem with focusing and remembering things....and I am SOOOO tired! All the time! And my temper and attitude are beginning to be a problem. I know a lot of this is from the foods that I am putting in my body. I am a HUGE dessert and coffee person. I will seriously sit down and eat a bag of chocolates! It's sick!

The reason I started this..is because last week I took a good friend of mine out for her birthday and we took a group picture and I had like 6 rolls on my side. GROSS! I am only 27 and these ladies are all about 20 years older than me and they look AWSOME! I think that was the wakeup call. I am sick of it!

OK....sorry for the rambling.... I'm just so excited to be here.

    Re: Introducing Myself!

Hi Teralynn! Welcome to the board. Often it takes seeing a picture of ourselves to understand that we have put on weight. Glad to have you here! You might want to check out the STAC (Second Time Around) forum, thre's lots of great people over there! Also, we have a women's forum, you can PM richt or Lauren and they can give you access to it. I'll look forward to seeing you around the board.

Welcome Tera! Good to have you with us.

I know what you mean about pics giving one a shock... though for me, it was seeing myself on video that had me secretly in tears one time. Awful. And it's fantastic to not be like that anymore.

It'll be the same for you too I'm sure... soon you'll look back with relief, from goal. Atkins is sooooo worth doing, and by the time you get to goal it's very likely you'll be in this for life.

You can do this! Happy losing!

        Re: Introducing Myself!

        Welcome TeraLynn,

It is so wonderful to make your acquaintance! Welcome to the spotlight. Boy, have you come to the right place. Let's see, first off, let's not use the 'D' word (Diet) lets just say, 'P' or plan. That way you won't get pregnant again! (Well it's at least a try....ya know....haha).

This board is a buffett (no pun) of information here. There are recipe forums, the Second Time Around Club (absolutely awesome, I see Sillygirl already suggested it, thank you Silly!), a private women's forum, a private men's forum, health related, they all have what is referred to as stickys (like a little sticky note from the office) which are posts that members who have been successful at this way of life, wanted to share with the rest of us. Not really secrets, there are no secrets or magic tricks, it all stems from DANDR 2002 edition (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution). Basically Dr A set in motion the blue-prints for a successful, healthy, happy, fulfilling way of life, I recommend reading it from cover to cover!!

My name is Scooter, I've been here for almost a year, I've lost 75 pounds so far (I would have lost more if I'd been kicking up that exercise, which I AM doing now) and 10 inches off my waist. This can be you!!! I had a lot of the same symptoms you do, tired, irritable etc. Not now. Everyday feels like a bolt of energy, some craves - but I kill them with other foods now. I know you can do this. I'd love to share some threads and links that you may find helpful during induction, some quick reference tools so to speak...

        Rules of induction:

www.fitday.com (Free on-line, this is awesome!!) or some members use this one
        http://www.thedailyplate.com

Anyway, congrats on going low carb, remember 'This Can Be You' make sure you jump around the forums and make your presence known, we are very happy to have you with us!! Come visit or sign into our daily Roll Call in the Second Time Around Club (STACer's).

Best of wishes! Life is good!
        Scooter

          Re: Introducing Myself!

Thank you everyone for the welcome. I am loving this board. There's so much information, I almost feel like I cant read it all.

Thank you sillygrl for the invite to the women's board. I cant wait to get over there.

Scooter... Thanks for the warm welcome and all those links. How great are those???? And I LOVE your idea about not calling this a diet. If I got pregnant again... I think I would move home with my mommy.LOL!

          Thanks again!
