  • Very new here

Hi my name is Deanna. Im 28,married with 4 children. Been overweight for along time. Ive tried many of diets but cant seem to stick to them. I started Atkins on March 5th. Ive lost 14lbs to date. That doesn't seem like much to me for almost a month. Does anyone have any advice on the diet?

Sure thing, ditch the 'D' word. Not a diet hon. I'm sure you've been like most of us and tried, low-fat, no-fat, mo-fat, shom-fat, you know the drill, down right depressing stuff. A diet is a quick fix fad that doesn't work.

Wait a minute, side track.......did you say 14 pounds!!! Excellent job!! That is about 4 pounds a week sweetheart, did you realize that!! That is absolutely fantastic!!! Good for you.

Back on track, anyway this is a way of eating for the rest of your life. It's not really a quick fix diet like Late Watchers, Nancy Craig, Jenny Shemmny...haha...(you'll find I have issues.....) this is a blue print to follow to be healthy and happy the rest of your life!!! It's not a race to the finish line, the slower it goes, the longer it'll stay off. Some times you'll have bursts of loss (such as 14 pounds!! ) and other time's you'll adjust your intake of carbs and such, but you want to come off relatively slow.

Pretty sweet huh? My name is Scooter, I would like to welcome you to ADBB, and say how wonderful it is to have you here with us. Especially since you've already lost so much weight and that, believe it or not is an inspiration to others that are here trying to do the same thing!! So essentially, by helping yourself, you are indirectly helping others in the same boat - that sealed the deal right there for me!! I started this way of life about a year ago, came here in desperate need of losing 100 pounds. 295 pounds, to date I've lost 75 pounds and I'm very proud of that fact. Just want you to know it does work!!!

I'd like to show you a couple threads and links that may be of interest to you:

Best of wishes! Life is good!

Deanna....14 pounds is very good. Go to the grocery store and pick up 14 pounds of anything (a 10 pound bag of dog-food plus 4 one-pound bags) (7 two-pound weights)....you'll be shocked when you can visualize how much you actually lost! Good going.

Another thing you might want to do is to measure! When you see yourself shrinking and your clothes are getting bigger and bigger on you....you'll see what a big deal it really is. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress.
