Hi. My name is Nicole and this is my 3rd full day doing Atkins! I can already feel a great difference, enough to keep me excited and motivated! I had a baby last June, and he is the love of my life, but I gained A TON of weight!! Auggghhh!!!! I am really wanting to feel better about myself and look better! But the feeling good about myself is the most important! I never realized that I was such an emotional eater!!! Any reason to go to dinner and "celebrate" sounded great to me! Not that I don't have the enthusiasm to celebrate with my family and friends, but I want to put it into something productive and healthy! The scale scares me so I have chosen a pair of jeans and a certain button up shirt that I want to be in!! Every goal has a new outfit that goes with it

Any advice and help or just plain encourgement would be welcomed and reciprocated!!!

Hello Nicole! Congratulations on your baby! How awesome! and....

          (Scooter grabbing the bullhorn.....)

Welcome to the spotlight!! No come back here......it's okay........that's it!!

Atkineers, meet Nicole, Nicole....Atkineers......see how simple that was.

(Yes. I have issues. My wife will tell you that!! haha)

that being said, welcome to ADBB. I know exactly where you're coming from. I got a new job, lets go out to dinner. I got a raise, let's go out to dinner. We had a baby, lets go out to dinner. Next thing you know it's 'Let's go out to dinner only on the days of the week that end with 'day' - how bout that....'

Been there, done that! That is definately not a way to live, is it. I decided a year ago to 'do the Atkins diet' and I'd only been on induction a couple days when I found this website. What a lifesaver!! I've been here a year, I've lost 75 pounds, I've lost 10 inches off my waist, I've went from a size 3X shirt to XL, oh yes, and I'm not done yet! This isn't a diet, let me tell you that. I diet is fad thing to quickly lose a couple pounds...nope. This is a way of life (WOL). Have you picked up a copy of DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution - 2002 edition?) If not, you should, that is basically the 'Blueprint' so to speak that the good Dr A set in motion for us all. I highly suggest picking up a copy and reading from start to finish!

Anyway, I've taken up enough of your time, I'd love to share these threads and links that you may find helpful:

Helpful suggestions - Clean Induction, exercise (even if just walking), water, water, water, water & water. Don't be afraid to move out of induction to OWL. That's pretty much everything. I've done it, it works, it can work for you! Think how much longer you'll be around for that precious bundle of joy...when you him walk down the aisle many years from now to get that diploma, you'll think back to now. The time you decided to change your life!!!

Anyway, congrats on going low carb, make sure you jump around the forums and make your presence known, we are very happy to have you with us!!
Best of wishes! Life is good!

            Welcome, Nicole!

I love your idea about the new outfits. I'm doing the same thing. I have a lot of clothes hanging in the closets, a lot of them never worn. I hung some favorite pieces out where I see them every day and it keeps me focused and my eye on the prize. All I have to do is eat the proper way and I'll be in those smaller clothes in no time!

            Best of luck to you!
