  • Hello Hello

    Hello,

My name is Lucy and this is my first time on Atkins.I am 25 and will be graduating from a nursing program this year. I have noticed that ever since we started doing clinicals in acute care, I began dealing with stress by eating lots of sweets. I managed to gain 10 pounds in less than 6 months. So I figured I had to do something to stop that cycle. I have to say that I was suspicious at first of this WOL (as in "you can eat what? and what? and still lose weight? what?") but after reading some literature, understanding the science behind the diet, and of course coming to this board and reading all of your stories and life experiences, made me want to try Atkins myself. So that's me in a nutshell.

p.s. I got engaged in December this year and I am planning a wedding for summer 2008. I am hoping by that time I will be a brand new person.

p.p.s. One thing that will be a struggle for me is the fact that my fiancee is 6 foot something and weighs 140 pounds, he runs every day for hours and is very thin (slim, slender, skeleton like ...) so he consumes a lot of carbs on a daily basis especially before he goes on long runs, but he has such high metabolism that he is still very thin. I know making him eat low carb things will be unfair and I don't want him to lose more weight. He is very sensitive and attentive to my needs so he proposed to keep all his carb snacks in a special cabinet. That's the best we can do for right now ...

I started the day after Easter a year ago and I've lost 75 pounds, 10 inches off my waist, and 3 sizes down in shirts. Believe me, I am living proof that this way of life works. There are 100's of stories similar to mine at this site.

Hi Lucy! Welcome to the board. Being in nursing, I'm sure you're very stressed alot of the time. Bring lots of legal snacks with you to work. While your associates are eating fattening things, you can be eating really great stuff, and lots of it! Nice of your stick-man fiance to hide the carbs!
