  • Its been 3 yrs!

    Hi everyone,
Its been about 3 yrs since Ive been on Atkins. The last time I was on it, I was so gung ho! I had just had my daughter and my husband and I were dead serious. In about 6 months, I lost 37 lbs...then I slipped. I started eating crazy, but I didnt gain too much. My husband stayed on for another 6 months and he ended up losing 100lbs! In the past yr, I gained 20 lbs. Now my goal is to lose 32 lbs...and let me tell you, it is much harder than I thought!

I officially started on Monday, so today is my second day...I've lost 2 lbs so far, but I'm trying not to weigh myself every day. I'm gonna try once a week. Any words of support would be much appreciated! Easter is coming up, and its gonna be a tough one. I'm already thinking about cheating. I dont know why my drive isnt as strong as the first time around.

So, theres my story..I'm already in ketosis...my breath is horrible! And I'm really watching my carb intake. I just have a problem with coffee. I love it, but I love it very sweet with splenda! That could be a problem...Any advice or words of confidence?

Warm welcome to you! Glad you found us here... you'll see that the support and help is awesome.

For Easter (and anytime, really) be sure to keep a high fat snack handy for when cravings hit. The fat really helps.
When you feel yourself weakening think of your goal and how you'll feel when you reach it (and you will feel so totally awesome that day!!)... think how you'll feel just two seconds after having eaten whatever carby delight (!) is beckoning to you.

Stay strong. You can do this!

        Hello My2crazies, welcome back!!!

Hey come on over to the Second Time Around Club (we lovingly refer to ourselves as STACer's). It's a place for those of us (including your humble narrator) who know the rules, know the way of life, but for some reason strayed off plan into the dark, only to find ourselves back into the light!

We can talk about what caused you to go off plan, or talk about temptation, etc. We have a daily roll call, so sign in and don't be a stranger!!!

As far as the coffee. You'll find lots of mixed emotions and feelings on that. If your striving for 'clean' induction, that calls for zero, zilch coffee or caffiene drinks! Myself, I still had and have coffee on the weekends....so I'm not much help there, I would advice to cut down the Splenda to 1 packet per cup (you'll get used to it) and cut the coffee intake as low as you can possibly take it.

You need to drink at least 64 ounces of water everyday!! At least, religiously. I drink 220 oz a day. Day in, day out. Your body will also adapt to that, but be prepared to do some running to the ladies room all day!!

          Re: Its been 3 yrs!

          hi my2crazies,

I'm new to atkins and sometimes i feel like cheating too but i snap out of it. I lost 6Lbs in 4 days and still sometimes i feel a little sceptic about this diet so I doooooo my very best to keep on the right track cause I for the very first time am trying it out and want to see results.

I think with second and 3rd rounders like yourself you now that this diet works so maybe you tend to bend the rules of the atkins phases especially the induction one.

Easter is a bad temptation, but at the end its your choice, YOU CAN DO IT, I know you can. People like Scoot, Becky, Sally and many other more including my self are here to support each other.

Belive in your self as you did the very first time, go out for walks, say no to temptation, belive me i know its hard, weigh your self in a week and let me know how it went.

          Take care

Thank you EVERYONE! The support is so great here! Ill let you guys know how easter went. Theres going to be great atkins friendly food there....but of course, its the babka and cookies that will be my biggest challenge. I tried not to weigh myself, but I just had to know....I felt so much lighter, and not bloated like when I eat carbs...and in 5 days, I lost 3.5 lbs! My next weigh in will be on Monday. I'll check back in then.

Again, thank you to everyone for the incredible support! Im gonna do this!

              Re: Its been 3 yrs!

Hi my2crazies! Can I just tell you that Babka is my all time favorite dessert? I've never heard anyone mention that here on the board, and of course I would NEVER mention it myself!!!!!

Welcome to you. I wanted to answer your coffee/splenda question. Many people stall with drinking coffee and having too much Splenda. I happen to be a coffee freak and have never had any problems whatsoever drinking it. I did, however, learn to use only heavy cream in it, and I no longer use Splenda in it at all, by choice, because Splenda never stalled me either. You will have to see how it goes for you in that regard. BUT, no dunking of Babka in your coffee, ok?

              EDIT
