  • Ready To Face Myself, I Think Lol

Hello , I decided to come out of lurking and introduce myself.I am a 24 year old black female that has been on atkins more times than you can shake a stick at ( shakes ADBB stick lol).
I started for the first time in Dec. 2001 and got the best results I've ever gotten mind you I'd been dieting since the age of 12.I was one of those people who were told to eat everything on my plate as a child and I took that mentality into adulthood.I can actually eat anything you give me.My latest stunt was eating a whole large pizza,a philly cheese steak, and large fries in one sitting. The only time that I've been able to control my appitite is with atkins, problem is that I am an emotional eater and find it hard to stray from old habits.
I've also fought the naysayer fight to an expert level.I actually had a prof. in my college tell me "oh don't do that diet it causes ketocidosis" ,yes she did lol.Now I know that I can't listen to anything but my own body. The truth is when I conform to this woe I feel so healthy and energetic(since I go to work at 3 am I need it), my blood pressure is great, and ironically thats the only time I eat veggies.
My goal is to regain my health and become a nutrionist and wellness center owner. Thanks for reading I know its long

Hi Amanderson! Welcome to the family. I can totally understand when you say you were told to eat everything on your plate. I also came from a family that was told about the poor kids in foreign countries who didn't have food...so to make up for their loss, we were expected to eat huge amounts of food.

You'll find lots of advice, support and encouragement here. My advice would be to read the book, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. Its filled with so much motivation and knowledge. Jump into the forums here in the ADBB, check out the recipes, journals, inspirational stories and photos, get involved in the challenges and enjoy this new way of life.

Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress. You can do it, we are all here for you!
