  • I really want it, I hope I can do it...

    Ok, guys. I only have about 20 lbs to lose, but it has been a struggle since I got out of college. I was a nice size all my life until about 4 years ago. I have tried Weight Watchers, Body for Life and counting calories. I lost weight with Body for Life, but put it right back on in a few months. Weight Watchers worked, but got expensive and became a pain to weigh in, so I quit. I have kept that weight off for about a year, and now I'm ready to get into Atkins. I actually started about 3 weeks ago and have only lost 4 lbs. I have noticed a huge difference in my size, though so I think I'm taking inches off. I bought the Ketostix yesterday to find out if I am really in ketosis and it showed light purple.

    I'm really hoping these blogs will help me out because I do feel better eating this way, but I really want to lose the weight and keep it off this time.

    Yay!! if you want it you will DEFINATELY do it! I am slow loser to but you know what? I am just happy to be a "normal" size. I don't have to go to the "plus size" section anymore. I can run with my kids and just feel soo good! Keep up the great work!

      Well, as you've already learned with WW and BFL, the programs work if you do them. However, when you quit doing them and return to the lifestyle that got you fat to begin with, you'll get fat again.

      Atkins is NO DIFFERENT. So, the change has to come within yourself, no matter which plan you choose to use. I personally love Atkins for not only weight loss but for all the other health benefits, and the control I have over my blood sugar. I'd done Atkins in the past with the mind set that I'd eventually return to the lifestyle I'd led before. I did and I got fatter than ever. This time, I made the decision to do this. Period. There IS NO GOING BACK. This is it. I'm healthy, I'm getting thin, my moods are pretty much under control and I'm not planning on giving up this good feeling I have.

      Just a little food for thought.

        Welcome! You will love this place. Get involved. Go and join some challenges...they are SOOOO motivating!
        Looking forward to seeing how you are doing.
        One day at at time...today I will do what I need to do to reach my goal.

          Welcome Bluemoon! Nice to have you aboard and congratulations on your "shrinkage" so far.
          You'll find ADBB an awesome place for inspiration and encouragement, so do use the board for that.. post lots, join activities and make friends... it's so worthwhile!

            Hey bluemoon! Welcome to the board. Light purple sticks is good! Keep it up and you will lose pounds! Obvioulsy you are already losing inches. Did you measure your body first?

              You can do it!! I'm just starting too ... but this is my first time with it!!

              Question, now, I don't have any of the Atkins books yet actually, is there somewhere online that explains the different Rungs?? I had no idea what those were, but from what I've gathered from reading other posts, there are different levels of atkins lol. And the ketosis strips ... I need to go buy some, but they will tell you pretty much if you're in fat burning mode? I think I'm going to do an extended induction - no more than 4 weeks, because I have a TOOOOOOOOOOOON of weight I need to lose ...

              anyway! back to you! good luck! these boards are extremely helpful!!

                  Welcome! This is definitely the place to get the support and encouragement. Everyone is great for cheering each other on and wanting to see you succeed. As with all things in life, its about making changes. Write out why you want to lose weight, take your measurements, then make your plan to make it happen. Come here often for lots of friendship and motivation. I can't wait to hear about your success....keep us posted!

                    Thanks guys for being soo supportive! I didn't measure myself before I started, but I can see it in my clothes. I still have not lost anymore weight! But as long as my clothes fit better, I really don't care what I weigh.

                    I really suggest to anyone just starting to READ THE BOOK! The website is good for checking on things, but the book will really explain everything to you.
