Hi! My name is Missy. A co-worker and I decided to change our eating habits and then after much thought,we decided to go with this. The problem is,she never sticks with anything! So I thought I was in this alone until I found this. I started yesterday and I did really well! (I think) This is going to be a little hard for me. I'm a big grab -n- go junk food/carb addict. I LOVE my Coke Zero
!!! But I'm trying to get away from that. I did have one with lunch yesterday and that's a big deal for me. I usually drink(and please don't think bad of me) 6 to 7 a day! Plus I'm a coffee drinker. I guess I should have put caffeine addict also. I thought about making a pitcher of tea with Splenda because I know it's lower in caffeine. Is that allowed? I'll probably drive everyone crazy because I like to ask alot of questions and I'm not the best typist either. Another thing is about where I work. I work in the dietary department in a local hospital. I'm a Diet Clerk. Not a dietician,I'm kind of like their helper.I didn't have to go to school for this job,I just had hands on training. My crash course took almost 6 months. What I do is, when someone is admitted into the hospital, the Dr. has to order a diet and then nursing sends it to our office and I have to know exactly what that diet is and see what this patient needs and make out the menus and so on for their stay. So here's my problem....dieticians really look down on this diet! So once they know that I'm doing this,oh am I going to catch it!!!! I've been reading on this for quite some time now,and yes,it looks like it would be unhealthy if you stay an induction for the rest of your life, but if you go with good fatslike Olive Oil and stuff and add your carbs in the right forms,it looks o.k. I need a cheering section!! I'm overweight and I have an 11 year old son(MY LIFE!) and my family has a horible medical history and I just want to be around as long as I can. My Dad died at 47 13 years ago of his 3rd heart attack and he had high blood pressure and was a diabetic. My Mom had triple bypass not even a year ago, she's a diabetic and a month ago had a stroke. I have 2 older sisters and a younger brother. My oldest sister is a diabetic and about 150 pounds overwieght and my brother is a diabetic. My other sister and I have CBC's every 6 months to a year and so far we're fine. We joke about getting one of those medical bracelets that say"If you think we have it,we probably do". I know it's nothing to joke about but that's how we deal with things. My mom's stroke was from her diabetes. Her A1C was 13. It should be 6. I want to look and feel good, but I want to be healthy. So there's my very long story and I'm sorry if I bored anyone. I'm a talker! So I could use any and all advice. and any help with my upcoming questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
