  • Hi! I am new to the forum.

My name is Sandra and I finally found this board and I am glad that I did. I hope to get lots of support and also info. I have been on the Atkins for about 3 weeks and have yet to lose one pound. I was reading on the thread for thyroid. I am on meds for it (hypo), but the dosage is low. I haven't cheated as this is an easy diet to follow, at least for me. I am on oxygen 24/7 and really need to take off about 40 lbs. I gained all of that weight since last year. The extra weight makes me breathe harder and also cannot breathe while excercising. I was hope to take off at least 10-15 lbs. so I could go back into excercising. Anybody have any help for me out there?

Welcome Sandra - I found that when i was on thyroid meds that i had to have the right dosage for me to lose anything. Also maybe try just flexing your muscles while you sit to get some kind of excercise.

Thanks, Traci. I do some chair excercises, but I just get really discouraged. But, I am not going to give up. I keep hoping I will wake up one morning and be able to fit into the same clothes I wore last year!!!

Hi Sandra! Welcome. Check out the Thyroid and Atkins low-carb dieting forum. Also, chapter 20 in Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution deals with thyroid conditions. He states that if you have the correct dosage of medicine, then you will feel dramatically better, have an increase in energy and start to lose weight. Don't give up! Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello and welcome Grnmeadow! Glad you found the board. Seems like you're in the right frame of mind for success and are determined. That's wonderful and is half the battle. I'm sure you'll be successful.
I'd ditto what the others say and definitely check out the thyroid forum. YOu might find that just a small alteration of dosage of your meds will help jump start weight loss.

Keep us posted as to how you get along!
